The finalists for the 20th Frankfurt Founders Award have been announced — Frankfurter Gründerpreis 2020
Award ceremony this year for the first time in a live stream from the Kaisersaal
This year’s finalists for the Frankfurt Founders Award — Frankfurter Gründerpreis 2020 have been announced! After a two-stage application process, the young companies “Die Auffüllerei”, “Die Backhelden”, “Lithium Designers”, “raumvonwert” and “Zemuye” were able to prevail in front of the jury. Now it is time for the five finalists to wait and look forward to the award ceremony on October 26, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. in the Kaisersaal des Römers.
“The Frankfurt Founders’ Prize is particularly important in our startup and founding landscape. Anyone who has been awarded the Frankfurt Founder’s Prize is ennobled with a seal of quality. So we are looking forward to a high-quality and wide-ranging field of applicants for the 20th staging of this exciting competition, ”said City Councilor Markus Frank, who, as the city councilor at the time, was a driving force behind the creation of the prize in 2000, the first in 2001 Time was awarded.
The planning for the big anniversary celebration for the 20th award ceremony had to be suspended at the beginning of the year. The applicants also had to wait — due to the pandemic, it was suddenly uncertain under which circumstances the jury meetings, company visits and the award ceremony could take place. “We are very happy and proud of ourselves that we have found a good solution anyway!” Said Oliver Schwebel, chairman of the jury and managing director of the Frankfurt Economic Development Agency.
Instead of the regular springtime, the Frankfurt Founder’s Prize will be awarded on October 26, 2020. “It’s not just the date that is a premiere! Corona has also forced us to rethink and we have seized the opportunity to go flexible and digital ways, “adds Oliver Schwebel. In order to comply with the hygiene and distance regulations, the award ceremony is broadcast live from the Kaisersaal des Römers. There will be a smaller audience on site — above all the finalists and their supporters or teams, of course.
The five finalists can already be proud of having stood out from a total of 26 strong entries. Before being nominated for the finals, the jury visited 11 companies on site and put them through their paces. “As in previous years, the quality of the entries is consistently very high. It was a pleasure to get to know such innovative, courageous and competitive Frankfurt companies! ”Confirms Oliver Schwebel.
This year, the head of the economic department, Markus Frank, and the economic development agency are particularly pleased about the many applications from the retail and creative industries. “Especially in these economically tense times, the courage of young company founders cannot be valued highly enough,” emphasizes City Councilor Markus Frank. And that has always been the goal of the City of Frankfurt Prize: to encourage young entrepreneurs to become entrepreneurs.
