A day at the desk with Kasimir
Here at the Malmö studio we decided to take some time to get a peek into the desks and minds of some of our team members. What better person to begin with than Kazzle Dazzle.
Hey Kasimir, so what were you doing before you came to work at Frankly?
For many years I worked as a greens keeper at a golf course in the summers and spent the winters in the mountains. After finishing my degree in product design at Malmö University and before joining Frankly, I spent some time on a forklift. Enough time in fact, to learn how to pick up coins from the ground.
Wow, sounds like you’re pretty skilled with a forklift…what drew you to product creation?
Making stuff. There aren’t many fields of work where one can combine making/creating with research and design. When I was younger I was always interested in discovering the things I liked or didn’t like about products, specifically sports products. You know as a kid, you develop your own product modifications and improvements…product hacks. But I never knew there was a profession that allowed you to do that. So once I found out about product design I knew that’s what I wanted to do.

What do you find to be the biggest difference in your daily experience now and before you worked at Frankly?
My days at Frankly are quite dynamic and to be honest, every day is different. Some days I am sketching, using the 3D printer, there’s just a variety of tasks. Things are constantly changing and evolving; I’m always learning. It’s also exciting to discover components that are the solutions to problems.

What do you find to be an important factor in your work environment?
The people. Everyone here is really into what they are doing and passionate about it. The environment is super creative and we are constantly developing and testing new things. Also I really feel that we are a team that supports each other, everyone is contributing with their skills, interests and personalities in a positive way.
What’s something you can’t live without on your desk every day, that contributes to your job?
A sketch pad, a pencil and my golden meerkat. Although without a computer it would be hard to work at all. The sketchpad allows me to communicate ideas and implement solutions in a fast and easy way and I like the feel of paper and pen, the tactility; it’s different from working on the computer. The meerkat is special to me, well because it’s a golden meerkat! But seriously, I bought it when I was stuck in the Hamburg airport due to a strike, while I was there presenting SurfEars to a German distributor.
So it holds some good memories that are closely related to my time here at Frankly.

Tell us what makes you happy about what you do?
Being a part of a great group of people that are all passionate about bringing innovative design to the market! It’s also really nice to see a product you’ve been working on being used in people’s everyday lives.
