What we’re excited about in 2015
Finally it’s here! The no. 1 trend report you’ve all been waiting for, 2015! What a year we have in front of us! Hmm..will it be different from 2014? Any major paradigm shifts? Is the dark internet going to take over the world? Start scrolling to get a glimpse of the fascinating future of 2015!
Connected low power networks

There has been a boom in all possible types of bluetooth low energy gadgets. They work really well with your iPhone but are completely dependent on this kind of in-between-device. However, 2015 will be the year when low power units will begin to talk to each other in micro networks. They will learn when to wake up and chat and will be self organizing.
A push in the internet of things explosion

We will start to see even more crazy first world IOT devices tracking and teaching you everything from how to walk properly (finally!) to how to brew your coffee with microscopic precision at home. The tech will be smaller and we will probably see a few really cool retrofitted products. What about tracking devices in batteries? How about finally be able to listen to that great podcast in your car without completely ripping out the interior?
Hardware building blocks will become more prepackaged

Yes! You can actually build your complete product chain from hardware to fancy infographic big data buzzword driven cloud solution, if you’re dedicated enough. Setting up embedded low power modules is becoming viable even for a software developer (!). Pretested and certified system on chip (SOC) solutions makes it possible to even start prototyping on production hardware without shouting at your local antenna professor. Do you have what it takes? The building blocks are there.
Machine learning will actually start to work

We’ve all heard about (sit tight) computers that can get to know your taste and predict your next steps. 2015 is the year when we will actually be surprised when services get it right. Easy to use cloud solutions for analyzing data might even become easier than trying to figure out how to layout a WordPress blog post without completely losing it..
Home automation

Finally there will be proper, low cost sensors that you can completely spray your home with and with hour-to-hour market for electricity (Yes! Also in Sweden!) somebody will make a lot of money. A factor x10 between night and day time spot prices on the energy market is an open goal. Who is going to do the most gradient packed & paralax scrolling experience for Apple HomeKit and Android Home? Will Cisco and BlackBerry surprise and completly steal the show with a killer sexyprise solution?
Beyond fitness trackers

Step counters, pulse sensors and graphing scales are really cool when done right, but what you really want of course, is to figure out what’s going on in that gray pile of slime behind your eyes. 2015 will be the year when consumer EEG becomes a commodity and the first electronic stimuli wearables for cognitive enhancement will slowly divide the modern world in two halves: connected brain or not. The discussion drift over the years, from “I’m not on Facebook” to “My brain is not directly connected to Snapchat”. Potentially Disney will release their brain reprogramming device for curing the the Frozen fever and admit that it all was a terrible experiment that went wrong from the beginning.
