Shoutout to everyone who ever abandoned me when I needed you most. You made me a beast.

The problem with talking about your problems and plans to people who are not on your level and don’t reciprocate the same level of energy is that they’re going to immediately do one of two things: talk to someone else about it because they don’t understand or because they feel trusted and powerful, try to change your route or the outcome of your effort to an end they can comprehend.
That is why you cannot trust everyone with every minor detail, success, failure, and fear. They’re not ready to carry that. But the people in your life who are crazy enough to back you up, grounded enough to lift you up, and faithful enough to propel you forward, are the same people who gas you up when others tell you to shut up. You don’t find people like that; fate delivers them to you, and they’re not guaranteed to be family or familiar.
How to know who’s who? Get discouraged. Try to turn around, and go back. Talk down about yourself. Lower your standards. Now listen, pay attention, and keep walking. After you’ve gone through Hell a few times, stop, and look around.
