Being in the Present
Poetry
to be in the present
takes much focus
sometimes it behooves me how
like some hocus-pocus
things and others come in the way
I want to take care of everything
and everyone
which puts being in the present
a son of a gun
there are worries and so much
stuff to do
to-do lists hang down to the floor
being happy to cross out actions done
but then several other needs become more
you think you’re making progress
and maybe a few things get done
trying harder to focus on the present
starts a wheel already spun
there is a difference between
right and wrong
we clamber over decisions
and actions of the past
a roundabout of thoughts going ding dong
and our focus runs away very fast
how long can we keep our focus
when ten things come all at once
it can be a crazy life to focus then
head on, head off, a dunce
