Strengths & Weaknesses

Can’t fault what nature put in us

I really hate the term ‘well rounded individual.’

In our society, we place such a focus on our weaknesses that we tend to neglect the aspects of ourselves that are strong. We allow the external noise to dictate how we progress in our skills; people give criticism, and we use it to get better at what we aren’t naturally good at.

What if we used our time to become masters of our strengths instead of average in all areas? It is impossible to become a master of everything. People spend their entire lives trying to be these well rounded beings, when we were sent here with only a few natural gifts.

By cultivating these natural gifts, we can become phenomenal. It is far easier to achieve success in something that comes natural to us, than to fight and claw and force something that does not. That is not to say that hard work is not involved. I would argue that we are more willing to work harder for the things that come more naturally to us.

Take a moment and consider what things from your early childhood into young adulthood that you were good at for no reason; are these gifts and acts still apart of what you do today? Remember how fulfilling it was to do something that came so natural and effortless. These are the things we should be focusing on; not stressing over what doesn’t come naturally.

Society makes us believe that our natural talents are not what we should dedicate ourselves to. People call them pipe dreams, or things that should be hobbies and not something we fully immerse ourselves in. I wholly reject those ideas. Allow yourself to be fully consumed with your strengths. Become so good that no one can even realize what your weakness are.

Become phenomenal.
