2 cool 4 skool… (any BTS fans out there?)

We’re now in the 2nd week of the Freeos AirClaim and it has been a phenomenal journey even in such a short time.

No wonder the team feels so topsy-turvey post launch!

And an auspicious date to give an update as well, split into 2 headings ;)

The Launch

We were a little astonished by the speed people signed up. In 22 hours (there it is again!) we had already over 5000 registered participants in the system.

For the first few hours, the growing staking requirements, for new users, barely slowed the pace down.

Honestly, we expected to reach 5K users in weeks, not hours.

This is a great achievement, but we know the staking requirements got steep fast for many people wanting to join. We will be revisiting the staking requirements when Proton’s KYC comes (fingers crossed everyone!)

There were a lot of questions—mostly about how to get xUSDC. So we decided to put out a little guide on how to bring assets over to the Proton Chain, which we will be updating over time. You can find this guide here.

To make it easier for people to know what they’d be facing, for the staking requirements, we updated the dApp’s frontend interface with a preview of how much the staking would be, on the registration pop-up.

Additionally we added an on-chain announcements system, so we can better communicate with the growing participants that might not be reading Medium, looking at Twitter, or in our Telegram / Discord channels.

New announcement system in place. Check.

One other thing that was added, with little fanfare so far, was getting FREEOS tokens included in the Telegram tipping bot.

Next Steps

There are a few items on the short-term roadmap.

  • Setup the price oracles and hook it up to the Freeos smart contracts. This will enable the locking threshold, which is set to a default 50% locked + 50% unlocked until they are hooked up (to be safe and help assure the upcoming holding requirements are easily met by most). For more on how this works, check out the Freeos AirClaim article.
  • Start the process of getting FREEOS listed on Proton Swap, and have liquidity added. Since the FREEOS for the FreeDAO Foundation is an additional percentage minted based on user-claiming, it will take some time to accumulate enough FREEOS to supply one side of the liquidity pairs. More on this as it develops.
  • Return of Freeos Trivia Tuesdays—but instead of NFTs, we will conduct these with FREEOS tokens. To prepare in advance, read all of the latest Medium articles and study up!
  • Proton KYC! We are expecting an update soon, and once we have news on this, we’ll be shouting from the mountaintops. Expect a change in the staking requirements to make it easier for newcomers to join us.
  • Return of the Open Alpha NFT Auctions—but now in FREEOS, not FOOBAR. This will include the most rare of the Champions of Freedom series!
The new auction will include rarities like Satoshi Nakamoto, and Sojourner Truth. Get your FREEOS ready.

For the long-term plans, we will be continuing to develop, and test the Governance Phase, so we can be ready for rollout after the AirClaim concludes.

Thank you, for all that have participated in the AirClaim so far, and we hope you continue to earn FREEOS, and learn about Freeos—including how to value it, and what our values are.
