Twas the update before AirClaim…

This update is a tad earlier (by a week) than we were originally announcing as a little holiday gift to our very patient—and very appreciated—community.

We’re happy to report that we’re well underway to be ready for the launch of the AirClaim just after the New Year.

As we’ve been reporting in earlier updates, the Airclaim launch depends on 3 key factors.

  1. Finalising the FreeDAO Foundation: Status = documents all submitted!
  2. Waiting for regional borders to open up for key account security management: Status = Complete and Double, Triple Checked!
  3. Waiting for the Proton wallet 2.0: Status = Complete. NOTE: This has been rebranded to be WebAuth. (Find out more in this Proton blog post here).

For item #1, since it is the holiday period, there may be a slight delay in how long it actually takes have the Foundation fully operational, compared to the three weeks originally quoted.

Once the Foundation is truly ready, we will announce a firm date. We will include a short window so that there’s plenty of time for all of our existing community to be ready for launch.

We will also be watching to see if Proton launches their global KYC (that seems to be a prerequisite for their own LOAN platform that they are preparing).

KYC could have a slight effect on the launch in two ways.

  1. If Proton is on the verge (a week or two) from having KYC available, we may delay to launch alongside this feature.
  2. If KYC can be included on the time of launch, this is likely to modify the staking requirements to be more strict for non-verified users, and have steeper thresholds for all verfication statuses. This is because the AirClaim’s staking requirements has a double purpose of being a soft-cap on the total amount of participants and initial FREEOS mint—as the AirClaim Phase does not include all of the economic controls of the Governance Phase, and all of its mechanisms that can protect the economy and value. We will update any change on this front before the launch so that there are not any surprises.
