FreeoDAO’s intention is to create tools of collaboration and freedom — tools that help incentivise people to cooperate and work together.

To fulfil this intention, FreeDAO is undergoing the formation of a Foundation—as mentioned in our September update.

The purpose of the FreeDAO Foundation is to create digital/blockchain tools to engender and facilitate local and global forms of cooperation, as well as to improve and extend human rights and freedom including, but not limited to: freedom of speech, freedom of expression, freedom of thought, financial freedom, freedom of governance, freedom of information, freedom to self-organise.

The first digital tool that represents this purpose of the Foundation is the Freeos Economic System.

One of the first practical enactments of this purpose of the FreeDAO Foundation is to further fund the development, deploy, and continue building Freeos as a democratic, self-governed economic system using blockchain technology for the world’s citizens to participate and benefit from.

Additionally, the FreeDAO Foundation is also set to establish a DAO (Distributed Autonomous Organisation) to manage the governance of the Foundation and direct the Foundation’s assets’ towards fulfiling its purpose.

The governance of this DAO is to be built on a system we call “Qualified Sortition”. This uses randomisation to select from a pool of qualified candidates for governance roles and then uses direct democracy to deselect (remove) a governing delegate mid term, if desired. We believe this can create diverse, strong, efficient governance structures that can be globally scalable, and built with a foundational level of accountability and trust.

NOTE: More details on this unique governance structure in Part 2 of this series.

The Foundation is merely the starting place to get FreeDAO operational and self-sufficient as a force to bring about better cooperation, trust and freedom around the globe.

Stay tuned for future articles in this series where we will elaborate more on the Foundation, and its unique governance systems.
