The story of Akshay Sachdeva –a freelancer on a mission to help other businesses grow

For this week’s issue of Freedom Creators, we had the pleasure of chatting with Akshay Sachdeva — freelance content creator and promotion strategist. Akshay turned to freelance because he wanted to help small businesses grow and be successful. Learn more about his story and how he’s created a sustainable business helping others for himself.

How and why did you get into freelancing?

I decided to freelance because I wanted to give running my own business a try while giving back and helping other businesses grow.

What’s been your proudest personal moment so far?

My proudest freelance ‘win’ would be waking up to a $2500 sale by virtue of creating a LinkedIn marketing package on CloudPeeps. It felt great! I’m also growing my freelance business into a ‘virtual agency’ to continue to help as many clients as I can. :)

How do you stay motivated and productive when flying solo?

I hit the gym first thing in the morning and meditate to set the foundation for a productive day. Then I make a list of the top three things I want to do during the day, so I know what I’m looking to accomplish. And then, I just get busy, stop thinking, and execute!

What’s the hardest part about being an indie worker?

Spending too much time in front of a computer screen. :(

What advice would you have for others taking the leap?

Win a few clients before you make the leap from a job. It’ll make life a lot easier! Ideally, you want them to be clients who pay you monthly.
