Watch Minute milestones reached by FreeFlix Media since the start, September 2019 to August 2020

FreeFlix Media, launched on September 2nd, 2019 with an aim to provide creators, studios and agencies the right set of media tools for them to manage, distribute and monetize content.

FreeFlix Media since then has been working with various partners that own & distribute video & audio content to the web and to advertising-supported VOD (AVOD) (video-on-demand) platforms like YouTube, Facebook, Twitch and more.

With partners and clients in the Media & Entertainment space, FreeFlix has completed streaming over 30 Million (30,000,000) watch minutes through FreeFlix Studio, growing at a very rapid pace during in the current & previous quarters (Q2 & Q3, 2020).

With the launch of the Enterprise implementations for our partner(s), we have added more than 6000+ assets, 1200+ partners, 2000+ contracts/agreements, 270+ rights with content distributed and being tracked on 10+ platforms.

FreeFlix Media in the span of this one year, has also worked on 3 very important products in the Media Suite — FreeFlix Studio, FreeFlix AdX and FreeFlix Media Hub

FreeFlix Studio

create, manage & distribute media

FreeFlix Studio adds value to creators, studios and agencies by being the single source of truth for all meta-data, media files & addl. information around a media asset (poster files, audio tracks, etc.). With Studio, all content generation, scheduling and distribution requirements are fulfilled.

With the automated content generation abilities of FreeFlix Studio, creators can take a break from repeated/redundant content generation and can automate entire media workflows right from the interface.

Product development of FreeFlix Studio in the last 1 year

In the past year, FreeFlix Studio has seen the introduction of:

  • Meta-data per category (movies, music, teasers, etc.)
  • File upload & automatic file download
  • Auto-generate videos from Twitter
  • Simulcast streams/broadcasts to multiple platforms (YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, etc.) at the same time
  • Auto-generate audio using Text-to-Speech
  • Accept real-time stream inputs
  • Streamed 5,000,000 (5 Million) watch minutes by late June 2020
  • Streamed 15,000,000 (15 Million) by July 2020
  • Reached the 30,000,000 (30 Million) in August 2020.

FreeFlix AdX

monetize linear & non-linear content

FreeFlix Studio integrates with FreeFlix AdX, a monetization solution for both linear and non-linear video that connects with native & 3rd party platforms.

FreeFlix AdX works with both native campaign management and programmatic advertising as required by content exposed to high-frequency bidding ad-networks.

In the past one year, through the FreeFlix Studio, a number of AdX features went into the hands of partners:

  • Native ad-campaign management
  • Real-time overlays as well as in-stream ad formats
  • Automated ingestion of ads based on stream/broadcast programming
  • Periodic/event-based ad-ingestion
  • Intelligent & non-intrusive ad-ingestion

FreeFlix Media Intelligence

analyze content and measure performance across platforms

Although FreeFlix Studio and AdX had to be developed for most parts of the year, the aspect of analysing content and camera angle changes within content is required for most deep-tagging operations and has been developed and integrated as part of FreeFlix Studio right from late January 2020.

Currently focused on analysing content for deep-tagging, working on Media Intelligence will give FreeFlix the unique advantage for further operations in distribution of content, etc.

In past year, through FreeFlix Studio, feature development of FreeFlix Media Intelligence includes:

  • Dynamic Programming — automated programming based on dimensionalized meta-data primarily used for scheduling linear broadcast slots, curating playlists, etc.
  • Cinematic Intelligence — automated camera angle changes within feature films, documentaries, animated videos and more

FreeFlix Live

With a B2C focus, the algorithmic-curation platform; https://FreeFlix.live was developed to help audience reduce the effort required to search and discover streams. Within FreeFlix Live, the ability to run interactive (VOD) video campaigns powered by AdX. It was only a POC and we aim to incorporate interactivity & personalization into the video consumption experience, this year.

Product development of FreeFlix Live in the last 1 year

Although most efforts went into product and business development, marketing efforts for FreeFlix Live weren’t as much as we’d have liked but that being said, we aim to increase the same this year.

FreeFlix Media Hub

secure exchange of media assets & social tokens powered by blockchain

FreeFlix Media Hub, a network of media networks that provides both, a blockchain based media suite as well as a network for creators, studios, agencies and fans to collaborate and engage.

With FreeFlix Media Hub, we were the world’s first blockchain to successfully run an on-chain community powered linear broadcast and use that on-chain programming to run a broadcast — and we did it during the Cosmos Game of Zones which helped us secure the award for the Best Custom Zone in the contest, among ~200 teams.

The teams operated during the COVID-19 lock down in the country, on mobile internet (with hotspot) to participate during the competition. Kudos to the entire team that relentlessly worked on it.

Product development of FreeFlix Media Hub in the last 1 year

The development efforts on the FreeFlix Media Hub include:

  • Root chain with the ability to support independent creator registrations
  • Creators & Brands can create Media and Ad NFTs using the xNFT module
  • Marketplace participation of assets for Asset licensing (also ran experiments with Smart Contract engines like CosmWasm and Agoric’s dIBC)
  • Payment to creators for ad impressions on their content

Having worked on all this, it is an exciting year for both the team at FreeFlix Media as well as the ecosystem we are in — blockchain, media and finance — and we aim to contribute to what’s available while building the products we’d like to use.
