As one of the founding guilds of the Guild Association, there’s still a lot of work to be done. We’re going to need a lot of support, in order to get to the point where we can truly make a difference in journalism.

But with enough members and enough resources, we’re looking to provide a lot of support that other writer’s “guilds” just cannot or do not provide. Not only do we want to make it easier for our members to find platforms on which to write, but we also want to provide services that will help make them better writers.

Science journalism in particular is an area of work that still requires a lot of improvement. There are some amazing science communicators out there, but often times science communication is hurt by a lack of understanding of the philosophy of science. And that’s not good for science, or the general public. So one of our goals is to create online courses to help improve science journalism.

There’s also another project going, started by Michael K. Spencer, which currently isn’t connected to us, but we’re hoping that we can work together, at the very least. His project is focused exclusively on creating a tribe of Medium authors.

You can learn more at the website, and follow the publication here on Medium.
