The key to landing on any google search page is strong Search Engine Optimisation. But what does that mean?

You’ll hear terms like SEO thrown around marketing teams when referring to good copy. Whilst it incorporates many different things, one way to ensure your SEO strategy increases your website traffic is through keywords.

Keywords are the words people use when searching for information, a product, or a service. They’re usually short and to the point, and if someone is typing in the keywords you’re using on your website, you’ll want your website or advertisement to show up as quickly as possible. That’s why it’s important to understand how keywords work, and how you can optimize your site for the best results.

To get started with keyword research, first identify the terms that customers might use when searching for what you offer. Then narrow down those terms into groups of related words that are more specific-this will help your landing pages or ads target relevant searches rather than wasting time or money on clicks from irrelevant ones.

Keywords can be divided into two categories: long-tail keywords and short-tail keywords.

Keywords can be divided into two categories: long-tail keywords and short-tail keywords.

  • Long-tail keywords are longer phrases that most people wouldn’t use as a search query but may bring up results related to the topic you’re searching for. For example, “toys for children with autism” would be a long-tail keyword because it has more words than “toys for kids.”
  • Short-tail keywords are short, generic searches such as “toys” or “kids.” They tend to bring up less specific results than long-tail terms and will likely result in fewer search results; however, if you have very little time to come up with your content then you might want to consider using these types of keywords.

As long-tail keywords are much more focused and specific, it is important to understand them in slightly more detail. They include longer phrases-usually three or more words-that are less commonly searched than short-tail keywords.

Longer phrases tend to have lower search volumes because they’re so specific that not as many people will use them when searching online. If you run an eCommerce site and choose to target these sorts of phrases, it’s best to do so over time rather than all at once (think: 6 months or more). This gives Google and other search engines time to crawl your website content thoroughly enough that they’ll know what kinds of pages exist on your site when someone searches for one of these long-tail queries.

Local SEO is the implementation of technical, creative, and strategic steps to improve local rankings on search engines for businesses trying to reach customers in a specific geographic area.

It differs from traditional SEO in that it focuses on one or two cities rather than targeting the entire world. In addition to targeting city-specific keywords, you also can rank for searches related to your products and services.

Examples of keywords that can help you rank locally might include:

Pay Per Click (PPC) is a way to bid for certain keywords that will help your web pages turn up on the front page of the google search platform. In short, you bid for a particular keyword that you’re after — if you have the highest bid and someone searches that keyword on google, your webpage will come up first.

Whilst lots of large corporations will spend a hefty wage packet on PPC bids, you aren’t completely losing out if your business can’t afford it. After all, if you’re a new business planning to outbid Nike on a particular keyword — you have no chance.

But that’s okay. If your landing pages have effective use of SEO Keywords, you
