I despise the term growth hack.

Many of the successful startup heros we’ve come to collectively worship as a society helped coin the term with their “growth hacks” back in the day.

  • Airbnb selling Obama themed cereal
  • Paypal giving away free money
  • Clubhouse being invite only for exclusivity

For them, and some others, these worked.

For the overwhelming majority of other startups, these, and all of their other growth hacks failed.

The reason why I dislike the term so strongly, is because it gives people the false hope that they are one gimmick or viral moment away from reaching their goals.

This has seemingly been perpetuated by social media platforms where that is more likely than ever.

That being said, the vast majority of the population and new business owners, won’t achieve this.

Which brings us to the point of this article…

My new favorite growth hack

Truthfully, I wrote that title as a midpoint between clickbait, and what I’m actually doing.

Here’s the “hack”.

Recently, I started answering questions about freelancing, soloprenuership, and side hustlin’ on Quora.

My workflow is to identify something i’ve gone through and that i’ve already written about.

I will share a link to one of my articles if applicable, but most importantly, i’ll share a funny comment about not being able to trust “someone like me” on the internet, and then give them my most actionable thoughts on the subject as the answer.

It’s the best of both world between promotion and being helpful.

Last night, I spent about 30 minutes answering some basic questions for people who are wanting advice before starting their own freelancing journey.

In that span of time, I got over 130 views between all of my responses. Not bad for a rookie.

It was also really cool to see so many wanting to make the leap and position themselves for success:

  • How do I get started as a freelancer?
  • What are some habits or strategies of successful freelancers?
  • How do I invoice my freelance clients?
  • Which platform is best between Upwork, Fiverr, or Toptal?

All things that I’ve got insights into from the few years I spent freelancing before starting my agency.

The reason why I like this path to increasing exposure to https://bestfreelancertools.com/ is because i’ve always enjoyed sharing my story and knowledge to try and help others succeed.

If I can help someone avoid the mistakes and hardships that i’ve been through and carve out an even more extraordinary path than mine, I will.

It’s why I wanted to build Best Freelancer Tools in the first place.

Me and Quora are a match made in heaven. Not sure why it took me so long to hop on the wagon.

I’ll keep you posted on the journey.
