TL;DR: Best AI Image Generators at a Glance

Comparison table of the best AI image generators (Created by the author).

Introduction: Why AI Image Generators?

It’s 2025 and AI image generation is everywhere.

But why the buzz? That’s because AI tools are now super fast and efficient.

Brands no longer need to spend thousands of dollars behind designers or photoshoots just to run a social media campaign. They don’t even need a full-blown marketing team to figure out what looks good. Simply let AI handle everything.

And honestly? You never know what’s real and what’s AI anymore. AI image generators have become that good.

So far, I’ve tested and reviewed 25+ AI image generators, but only a handful of them have made it to my “best AI tools in 2025” list.

In this article, I’ve shared a step-by-step, detailed review of the 8 best AI image generators for 2025, so you can pick the right one for your needs.

Fiverr — Best Image Generator Mixing AI with Human Touch

AI tools are great. But what’s even better? AI with a human touch. Fiverr offers exactly that.

This platform is perfect for all your image generation needs. You can choose from multiple freelance experts, connect with them over a call, discuss your requirements, and get high-quality output, quickly and easily. How amazing is that?

Screenshot of the Fiverr Homepage

The best part? You don’t have to blindly rely on AI to get things done. If you need specific revisions with subtle nuances that AI image generators can’t quite get right, Fiverr’s freelance experts are your go-to.

Screenshot of freelance experts on Fiverr

You can go through the different gigs to find the perfect one for you. One thing I’d like to point out is that while it’s usually advisable to choose a Level 2 or “Fiverr’s Choice” seller, there are plenty of underrated freelancers on Fiverr. That’s why I make sure to check the following things–

  • “About this gig” section.
  • Pricing.
  • Delivery time.
  • Portfolio.
  • Reviews.
  • And whether I get a free trial.

Honestly, I’ve worked with experts who may not have many reviews, yet they’re absolutely brilliant at what they do.

Fiverr has become my go-to place for nearly all my writing, editing, and design needs. I definitely recommend this platform.

My experience ordering AI image generation on Fiverr

I was keen on working with Sai K, a freelancer on Fiverr with who I’ve worked on AI headshot generation and AI image editing before.

I shared 5 prompts —

The seller delivered my order in less than 24 hours.

Look at the stunning results I got.

Prompt 1: Pole Dancer in a Futuristic Neon Studio.

Prompt 2: AI-Generated Office of a Woman Entrepreneur

Prompt 3: Woman Training an AI Tool to Create Art

Prompt 4: AI Goddess of Creativity

Prompt 5: Fitness Lifetsyle Meets Startup Pitch Deck

Do you notice how gorgeous these AI geenrated images look? I can easily use them in my content, for my social media, in ad creatives. And if I’m creative enough, I can use them on my LinkedIn with relevant context.

The best part? This service cost me just $30. Easily the best investment I made in AI image generation. I didn’t even have to figure out how to use an AI tool!

7 Best AI Image Generator Tools (Ranked and Reviewed)

Let’s go through the AI image generator tools I’ve found worth using.

1. Imogen

Although this isn’t a typical image generator tool, I found Imogen to be amazing for all my image editing needs. You can find this tool on the App Store. Imogen lets you improve quality, remove noise, and upscale your images with ease.

Screenshot of Imogen on App Store

Imogen also lets you transform your photos with stunning AI-driven filters, remove backgrounds, convert your selfies into artistic portraits, restore old or damaged photos, and more!

How to generate images using Imogen

  1. Open the app on your iOS device
  2. Write a prompt regarding what image you want generated. Here, I wrote a simple prompt “A labrador wearing glasses.”

3. Wait for 5 seconds for the AI to work its magic.

4. Voila, your generated image will be ready!

Once Imogen generates your image, you can save it, share it, or edit it further. I chose to add another prompt “Make dog wear a red bow.”

Editing the generated image with a simple prompt on Imogen

I am smiling at how cute the results are.

Next, I want to try some interesting AI image generation experiments. I chose the prompt —

“A dramatic and dynamic scene of a woman pole dancing. She has long, flowing hair that moves gracefully with her motion. Her dress is elegant and flowing, swirling around her as she performs a powerful and expressive dance move on the pole.”

Here’s are two results I got by running the same prompt twice —

With a few more tweaks in the prompt, you can see how intersting the AI image generation with Imogen can feel. It’s almost like playing a game!

Imogen is hands down the simplest, most cost-effective AI image generator and image editor out there. It doesn’t require you to be tech-savvy. All you have to do is download the app and write some nice prompts.

Pricing

This app is best for photographers, creators, social media enthusiasts, designers, and artists. Although the app is overall free to use, advanced features require a subscription to “Imogen Pro” — monthly for $14.99 or weekly for $8.99. You get unlimited AI edits.

2. Monica AI

Monica AI’s image generator lets you create stunning images using a simple text prompt. It also features an AI video generator, an AI detection tool, and supports multiple LLMs — making it a one-stop destination for all your LLM needs.

You can remove objects, replace backgrounds, generate AI-powered LinkedIn profile pictures, wallpapers, and more.

  • Recraft V3 Raw

Next, select a “Style”. You can either go with “Auto” or go for styles like “3D Anime”, “3D Model”, “Japanese Anime”, etc.

I’m going for “Stable Diffusion XL 1.0” and “Auto” style. I just need to enter a prompt and click on “Create Now”. Well, if you’ve been following my content for a while, you probably already know how much I love pole dancing. So, let me use a simple prompt —

“A dramatic and dynamic scene of a woman pole dancing. She has long, flowing hair that moves gracefully with her motion. Her dress is elegant and flowing, swirling around her as she performs a powerful and expressive dance move on the pole.”

Here’s what Monica AI generated–

You can use this tool for all your writing, editing, as well as designing needs. Plus, you get access to multiple LLMs all in one place.

3. ImagineArt AI

ImagineArt AI has an “Image Studio”, “Video Studio”, “Imagine Sketch”, “Music Studio”, and “Voice Studio”. You can generate text-to-image, face portrait, restyle your images, and do so much more!

  • Sign up using your email or Google to get started.

Let’s explore the “Image Studio”.

Screenshot of the Image Studio of ImagineArt AI

Starting with the “Text to image” tool. I’m going with the following options–

  • Model– Dark Fantasy
  • Aspect Ratio– 1:1
  • Style– Cinematic
  • Lighting– Dramatic
  • Camera– Wide Shot

The overall theme of my prompt was women writers who work a 9–5. The prompt I used was —

A dark fantasy scene of a woman in her late 20s, seated at an ancient wooden desk in a candlelit chamber, writing with a glowing quill. She wears modern business attire — blazer, blouse, and slacks — but the setting is otherworldly: stone walls, floating books, arcane symbols glowing faintly on parchment. Her tired eyes reflect the glow of a crystal orb beside her laptop, which is open with spreadsheets flickering between runes and code. By day, she toils at her corporate job; by night, she writes spells and stories, building a secret life through her side hustle. Shadows dance across the room, hinting at unseen forces — both burdens and inspiration — watching over her. Mood: gothic, moody, magical.

Here’s what I got —

Screenshot of the Image Studio of ImagineArt AI

I love the fantasy setting, and the golden glow detailing on the image.

Next, let’s try these–

  • Model– Vector Art
  • Aspect Ratio– 1:1
  • Style– Oil Painting
  • Lighting– Natural
  • Camera– Mid Shot

Since I’m a civil engineer turned writer, I decided to go with a similar prompt —

A striking fantasy scene of a woman racing between two worlds — one of steel and concrete, the other of ink and imagination. She wears a dusty engineer’s jacket over a flowing writer’s cloak, blueprints in one hand and a glowing pen in the other. Around her, a half-built bridge constructs itself mid-air with every word she writes into her journal. Cranes swing overhead, ink turns into scaffolding, and floating paragraphs form arches and beams. Sparks fly, dust swirls, and her expression is focused — caught between deadlines and dreams. The backdrop blurs between a bustling construction site and a swirling, magical library. Tone: fast-paced, cinematic, empowering.

Screenshot of the Image Studio of ImagineArt AI

Here’s another one–

  • Model– Ultra Realism
  • Aspect Ratio– 1:1
  • Style– No style
  • Lighting– Natural
  • Camera– Portrait

The prompt I used was —

A close-up portrait of a woman in her early 30s with an intense, thoughtful expression. She’s gently biting her lower lip, deep in concentration. Her hand is raised near her face, holding a sleek black pen between her fingers. A detailed tattoo snakes along her hand and wrist — something symbolic, like a floral design or script. Her hair is slightly tousled, and soft lighting casts gentle shadows across her features, highlighting her cheekbones and eyes. The background is minimal and blurred, drawing all attention to her face, hand, and the subtle tension in her pose. Mood: artistic, intimate, and introspective.

Screenshot of the Image Studio of ImagineArt AI

I love the results! These look so beautiful, and the AI managed to capture the essence of my prompt perfectly!

Let’s test the “Face Portrait” tool of ImagineArt AI. I need to upload a selfie or can even choose to generate an image.

This is what I got–

Image generated by the Face Portrait tool of ImagineArt AI

Well, this is interesting! It does look a bit like me, but since I only provided a selfie, ImagineArt AI couldn’t accurately capture my body type. Also, what happened to my glasses?

What if I try to generate a portrait?

Image generated by the Face Portrait tool of ImagineArt AI

I do see some similarity, but I still look different. Let’s try once more with a different prompt–

Image generated by the Face Portrait tool of ImagineArt AI

Wow! I really like this picture. This is very close to the way I look. Do you notice the texture of my hair? Pretty natural, right? Love it!

Pricing

Let’s take a look at the pricing plans of ImagineArt AI

Screenshot of the pricing plans of ImagineArt AI

The “Basic” plan costs Rs. 883/month INR (billed annually). This includes up to 3,600 image generations per year with public visibility.

The “Standard” plan costs Rs. 1,750/month INR (billed annually). You get up to 12,000 image generations and 8 concurrent generations.

Once you’re in, this is what the Workspace looks like —

Screenshot of the PromeAI Workspace

Let’s test the “AI Image Generator”. Since I’m a woman entrepreneur who loves pole dancing, I’d like an image that combines both.

I’m going with– Realistic Fantasy, Indians, Ultra Long Distance Wide Angle Lens.

Image generated by the AI Image Generator of PromeAI

This is hilarious and interesting.

Here’s another one– Realistic Fantasy 34, Confident, Medium Close Up Shot.

Image generated by the AI Image Generator of PromeAI

I do see some distortions, but overall, I like how closely PromeAI followed my prompt.

Since I’m enjoying this a bit too much, I’ve got to keep going! Let’s try — Retro 02, Indians, Confident, Matured, One Side Up, Sensual Modernity.

Image generated by the AI Image Generator of PromeAI

Can you believe this is AI-generated? It looks like a luxury brand ad, shot with a real human model. Sure, there are some distortions, but nothing a little editing can’t fix!

You can also create realistic images of buildings using the “AI Architecture Generator”. Just like I generated a real-life Barbie dollhouse —

Image generated by the AI Architecture Generator of PromeAI

If you have a dream house planned in your mind, all you need to do is type it out and let PromeAI show you what it would look like! You can generate a front view, a macro shot, a high-angle view, anything you want!

Image generated by the AI Architecture Generator of PromeAI

You can also generate product images if you want. For example, if you’re promoting your coffee brand, you no longer need to spend thousands on expensive photoshoots.

Pricing

Here are the pricing plans of PromeAI

Screenshot of the pricing plans of PromeAI

PromeAI has three plans: “Base” ($16/month, billed annually) for beginners with 500 coins and essential image generation features, “Standard” ($29/month, billed annually) for designers with 2,000 coins, video generation access, and commercial rights, and “Pro” ($59/month, billed annually) for professionals who need 6,000 coins, higher limits, and advanced support. All plans include HD downloads, private asset storage, and fast, detailed generations.

5. ChatGPT

I guess all of us must’ve used ChatGPT at least once in our lives for image generation. ChatGPT is one of the simplest platforms when it comes to image generation. The best part? You can even use ChatGPT to generate detailed image prompts.

Screenshot of the ChatGPT Homepage

How to generate images using ChatGPT

You need to sign up using your email or Google. The free version of ChatGPT has a restriction on the number of image generations per day. However, you can choose to upgrade ChatGPT Plus if you need a lot of images.

So let’s get to the fun part! First things first, let’s ask ChatGPT to generate a prompt–

“Can you generate a caricature prompt for image generation? Funny, working-women centric.”

That’s it! ChatGPT generated this–

Screenshot of ChatGPT

Awesome right? Let’s see if the generated image will be good or not. Here’s what I got–

Image generated by ChatGPT

I love it! However, this is a very basic prompt. Let’s go for something more detailed, complex. Something as detailed as this–

Screenshot of ChatGPT

I am absolutely stunned by the result! Don’t believe me? See for yourself–

Image generated by ChatGPT

The level of detail in the generated picture is amazing. Plus, ChatGPT has followed the prompt perfectly.

Let’s take it up a notch. I’m going to have ChatGPT ask me questions to create a brand image, then I’ll ask it to generate a brand logo and a social media launch post.

Here’s a summary of our conversation–

Screenshot of ChatGPT

Let’s see what brand statement and tagline is generated.

Screenshot of ChatGPT

Okay, now let’s get to the main image generation part. Here’s the logo generated–

Logo generated by ChatGPT

Here’s the generated social media post–

Image generated by ChatGPT

Honestly, even though the generated images are pretty good, I think they still need a bit more fine-tuning.

One thing I really admire, though, is ChatGPT’s ability to generate text in images. Just a couple of months ago, I saw large language models struggle with text in images. But now? Things have improved significantly.

Pricing

Let’s take a look at the pricing plans of ChatGPT

Screenshot of the pricing plans of ChatGPT

Screenshot of the pricing plans of ChatGPT

ChatGPT ’s “Free” plan gives access to GPT-4 with limited usage and up to 2 image generations per day.

The “Plus” plan costs $20/month and gives priority access to GPT-4, faster response times, and up to 50 image generations every 3 hours.

The “Pro” plan (around $200/month) has higher usage limits, priority support, and access to more advanced features.

The “Team” plan ($25 or $30/month per user) provides shared access, admin controls, and centralized billing.

You can also check out the “Enterprise” plan for enhanced security, dedicated infrastructure, and advanced compliance features.

6. Gemini

Another great alternative to ChatGPT is Gemini. This tool also lets you generate high-quality images from basic text prompts. Just like ChatGPT, you can ask Gemini to fine-tune text prompts before using them to generate images.

How to generate images using Gemini

Go to Gemini and sign up using Google to get started.

Screenshot of Gemini

You know the drill. I’m going to use a very basic prompt and ask Gemini to fine tune it first. Let’s try something funny this time. Here’s my prompt–

“Please write an image generation text prompt. Something related to a biscuit floating in the air with wings, a man is sitting on top of it. Make it funny. Add extra elements. I don’t need the image right now. Just the prompt.”

Gemini gave me options!

Screenshot of Gemini

I’m going with Option 2. Here’s what I got–

Image generated by Gemini

Let’s try using a different prompt. I want to try and see if Gemini can replicate my face. Here’s what I got–

Image generated by Gemini

Well, I do see a huge scope of improvement. But let’s try changing outfits. I’m going to upload a reference image and ask Gemini to change the color of the outfit.

So here’s what I got–

Before vs. After– Image edited by Gemini

Wow! This works! What if I ask Gemini to change my outfit completely?

Image edited by Gemini

Nice! How about my hair color? How would I look with red highlights?

Image edited by Gemini

So after several hits and trials I’ve noticed one thing– Gemini still needs to work on replicating faces while generating fresh images.

For instance, when I asked Gemini to replicate my face to generate a new image, this is what I got–

Image generated by Gemini
Image generated by Gemini

These are hilarious! I look like a completely different person, and the background in the first image looks photoshopped haha.

Overall I would say, if you’re looking for a good text-to-image tool, Gemini is pretty good. But when it comes to replicating faces, this LLM still has a long way to go.

Pricing

The free plan of Gemini is pretty good for your basic writing, editing, doubt clearing, and image generation needs. However, if you’re looking for advanced features and unlimited image generation, you’ll need to purchase a plan. Let’s check out the pricing plans of Gemini

Screenshot of the pricing plans of Gemini

The “Google AI Pro” plan costs Rs. 1,950.00/month (INR), with the first month free, and includes access to the Gemini app for advanced models and video generation, AI filmmaking, and 1,000 monthly AI credits.

The “Google AI Ultra” plan is priced at Rs. 24,500.00/ month (INR), with a promotional offer of Rs. 12,200.00/month (INR) for the first three months, and provides everything in the Pro plan, but also 12,000 monthly AI credits, and a YouTube Premium individual plan.

7. getimg.ai

getimg.ai lets you generate images, videos, or even build your own models using simple text prompts. This tool has an “Image Generator”, “Image Editor”, “Video Generator”, “Upscaler”, “Model Trainer”, “Background Remover”, and more!

How to generate images using getimg.ai

  • Go to getimg.ai.
  • Click on “Get started free”.
  • Sign up using your email or Google to get started.
Screenshot of the getimg.ai Homepage

Here’s how the Workspace looks like–

Screenshot of the Getimg.ai Workspace

So in order to generate an image based on a text-prompt, you need to first select a model from the existing list.

Screenshot of the Getimg.ai Workspace

Next, type in the text-prompt and choose a “Style”. You can even create your own style using the “Model Trainer”.

Screenshot of the Getimg.ai Workspace

Just upload 10–20 reference images, give your style a name, and click “Train model”. The process costs 1450 credits and takes about 5 minutes. Once trained, your custom style is ready to use across all your image generations.

From there, pick your aspect ratio (“1:1”, “2:3”, etc.), decide how many images you want, and hit “Generate”. You can even upload a reference image to guide the output.

What really stands out is how beginner-friendly the process is.

Pricing

Let’s take a look at their pricing plans next.

Screenshot of the pricing plans of Getimg.ai

The “Free” plan gives 100 credits per month for image generation, editing, and more. The “Pro” plan gives 2,000 credits/month, video generation, model training, unlimited storage, and full commercial rights for Rs. 736/month (INR), billed annually. The “Team” plan is simply the “Pro” plan, plus access for 3 users, a shared workspace, and priority support at Rs. 6,646/month (INR), billed annually.

How to Use an AI Image Generator (Step-by-Step Guide)

Finding the right AI image generator can be cumbersome. But you can make the process simpler.

Start off by understanding your specific use case. What kind of images do you need, and for what purpose?

Next, focus on writing a clear and detailed prompt. Seek help from LLMs like ChatGPT and Gemini. The clearer your prompt is, the easier it is for the AI tool to generate a perfect image. Also, AI understands AI language best, so why not make the most of LLMs?

Then, adjust settings like styles, resolution, and model type to fine-tune the output.

Finally, download your image and use editing tools to make adjustments as per your needs.

Free vs Paid AI Image Generators

Honestly? Free AI image generators are great to try out. Free tools help you practice and understand the tricks better. But such free tools don’t always give you accurate, high-quality images, just like we saw in the case of Gemini. Also, the images generated often have watermarks.

Paid plans do provide higher resolution, faster speeds, more styles, and usually commercial rights. I usually start free and then move to paid ones when I’m confident about my requirements.

Use Cases of AI Image Generators

  • Social media content: You can generate attractive visuals quickly without spending a lot of time.
  • Branding and marketing: You can create professional-looking brand assets without hiring expensive designers.
  • eCommerce/product mockups: You can generate realistic product images without needing expensive photoshoots.
  • Book covers, game art, storyboarding: You can create unique, custom artwork.
  • Personal use: gifts, portraits, wallpapers: You can make personalized gifts or wallpapers for your loved ones.

Conclusion

Ultimately, the tool you choose depends on your image generation needs. A mix of human creativity and AI usually gives better results than blindly relying on AI alone. However, when it comes to affordability and simplicity, certain AI image generators might be a better choice. In short, go with what feels more convenient and effective.

Just make sure you’re aware of copyright rules before using AI-generated images commercially. Plus, always keep ethical considerations in mind when using AI generated images.

  • If you need an AI image generator with a human touch, go for Fiverr.
  • If you want fast, free AI image enhancement and editing, choose Imogen.
  • If you want an all-in-one creative suite with image generation, editing, and more, try Monica AI.
  • If you need amazing AI art generation, opt for ImagineArt AI.
  • If you’re a designer or an architect needing detailed 3D renders and AI art, go for PromeAI.
  • If you prefer prompt-driven, versatile image creation and enhancement, ChatGPT is a great choice.
  • For basic image editing and a range of AI features, Gemini is pretty good.
  • If you want a versatile AI platform with both image and video generation, pick getimg.ai.

🧠 FAQs About AI Image Generators

1. What is the best AI image generator for professional-quality visuals?

If you’re looking for professional, ad-worthy results, Fiverr is your best bet. You can work directly with expert freelancers who combine AI with their own creative touch — perfect when you want custom, polished results without learning a new tool.

2. Can I use AI-generated images for commercial projects?

Yes, but check the licensing. Most paid AI tools (like PromeAI or Imogen Pro) include commercial rights in their plans. Free versions might watermark your images or restrict usage — so always read the fine print before using them in client work or ads.

3. Are free AI image generators worth using?

They’re great for experimentation! Tools like ChatGPT and Gemini can generate solid visuals from simple prompts, but don’t expect perfection. Free versions often come with usage caps, limited resolution, or less control over style and quality.

4. How do I write better prompts for AI image tools?

Think of prompts like giving instructions to a creative intern — be clear, specific, and detailed. Instead of saying “woman dancing,” try “a woman pole dancing under neon lights in a futuristic city wearing a red costume, wide-angle view, cinematic lighting.” The more context you give, the better the results.

5. Which tool is best for fantasy or artistic images?

ImagineArt AI and Monica AI excel at generating artistic, anime, or fantasy-style images. You can customize models, choose visual styles (like oil painting or pixel art), and even create dramatic, story-rich scenes from scratch.
