MAC play starts this week, so get after the multi-point games

Well that was a fun weekend. Ball State hung with Notre Dame for a while, NIU had a shot against Utah, and Kansas thumped CMU. Oh, and something about EMU beating another Big Ten team? Yeah, that’s the stuff.

We’re still waiting for a perfect week, but one person came close, only missing on the Kansas/CMU game. Congrats to Frank A on his 10 points last week. Full scoreboard here.

Week 3 brings us our first MAC games of the year, and thus our first two point games of the 2018 Pick’em. Be extra careful here, or else you could be doomed later on. The form can be accessed here, or following my picks.

Kent State @ Penn State — The Golden Flashes look really decent through two games. Penn State should knock them back down a bit.

Miami (FL) @ Toledo — This should be fun, as the Rockets have had a week off to prepare for this one. They have a fun offense, and if the three-headed monster can get going, this has upset potential written all over it. However, with how bad the MAC has looked in non-con play so far, I have to go with the ‘Canes.

Ball State @ Indiana — Ball State looked fantastic against Notre Dame (outside of some interceptions). Playing Indiana should be a lay-up. However, I think Ball State suffers a bit of a let-down here and loses to Hoosiers.

Ohio @ Virginia — Pretty much the inverse of the past pick, Ohio looked ugly in its first game against Howard before getting the bye to try and work out some kinks. Virginia isn’t great, and held their own against Indiana, and I think Rourke gets back on track this week. Bobcats in a close one.

Miami @ Minnesota — How soon before we start the “Chuck Martin is gone” talk? Now?

Central Michigan @ Northern Illinois — lol Central. Not only did they lose to Kansas, they got full #beatemdown’d. NIU has been notoriously snake-bitten by the Chippewas in the past, but this CMU team might be the worst in the MAC. Side note: I personally want to thank Central for losing in hilariously bad fashion in order to wash out the horrid WMU performance I sat through on Saturday. You’re my favorite joke.

Eastern Michigan @ Buffalo — This is very tough, but Eastern’s offense has been decent enough to go with their defense to shut down Tyree Jackson and Co. ONTARIO SANDWICH GAME!!!!

Delaware State @ Western Michigan — Tim Lester better figure it out soon because he’s been awful in 14 games so far.

Akron @ Northwestern — Nice warm-up game to start the year, Zips. Now good luck against a Big Ten team. Don’t skip town because of rain this time.

Game of the Week — Miami @ Toledo — I really think the Rockets can pull this out. Maybe it’s the kool-ade or the sleep deprivation, but I love this game. Also, the Glass Bowl should be packed with a notable P5 team in town.
