Happy Election Week, everyone. This Tuesday, we will all go do our civic duty and vote on our many congressmen and local officials as part of our democratic government. Then, we will go home and watch Kent State football. Weird? Yes, but this is the third straight major election (Presidential or Mid-Term) that Kent State will play on Election Night, and it put scares into the last two opponents it played (Toledo and Western Michigan) on said night.

But before we get there, we have to look at last week, where there were very few upsets to be had. Our closest two match-ups saw Kent State squeaking out a win against BG, and Ohio just embarrassing Western. However, some of us saw this happening and picked perfect weeks. Congrats to myself, Matt Hammond, Justin Coffin, and Robert Tomlinson for the 14 point weeks.

Full breakdown here. Nothing new to report on the cumulative side since Robert keeps winning.

On to Week 11! Only five games this week and next due to the Michigan and Indiana teams going on bye.

Kent State @ Buffalo — The Bulls get the win at home to inch closer to the MAC East Title, but Kent State 100% will keep it close. As stated above, the Flashes get up on election day and vote that you’ll have a bad time.

Ohio @ Miami — Don’t get me wrong, I think Ohio is the much better team. Also, I know Ohio didn’t really have to play much of the 2nd half against WMU. That said, Miami had an extra two days to rest and prepare for this Bobcat team, and gets it at home. Similar to what happened to Toledo last year when it went to Ohio and lost, I think the rest period gets to the Bobcats and Miami squeaks out a win. This all but ends the East race, since Buffalo would be up 2 games on both teams, owning the H2H against the RedHawks, and closing the season against Bowling Green.

Toledo @ NIU — NIU is just too damn strong on defense. Even if Toledo has the dynamic offense that can stretch the Huskies’ secondary, NIU will grind out a win because that’s all it knows how to do. It doesn’t clinch the West, but with WMU looking dead in the water, it means the Huskies can clinch the division before facing the Broncos in Week 13.

Akron @ Eastern Michigan — I really would’ve taken the Zips after seeing Ohio Kato Nelson torch the Huskies last week. That said, he exited the game with a bad ankle injury, and his back-up wasn’t great. Eastern has one of the best defenses in the MAC, and toyed with CMU on Saturday before buckling down and putting the Chippewas away. Look for more of the same on Saturday.

Bowling Green @ Central Michigan — OH HELL YEAH BUTT GAME OF THE YEAR! In what is sure to be a Bottom 25 match-up between two “top” 5 teams, give me the Falcons, who last played on Tuesday. Remember what I said about rest? BG will have an extra three days on the Chippewas, who have no offensive identity. The Falcons are improving, and should carry this one with ease.

Game of the Week — BG @ CMU — Again, BUTT. GAME. OF. THE. YEAR.
