Welcome to the Mid-American Gambler, a weekly installment where Justin makes his picks against the spread on every MAC football game (and a few others too). You can follow him on Twitter @NIFFOCNITSUJ or email him at fosatblog@gmail.com.

Last Week: 3–2 in the MAC, 1–2 Bonus Picks
Overall Record: 55–2–56

Damn you, West Virginia! I’m on a time crunch this evening so let’s get moving with the picks. As always, my selections in bold:

Northern Illinois -6.5 @ Western Michigan

Maybe WMU solved all its problems on defense by firing the defensive coordinator. Maybe — and this is far more likely — it didn’t.

Ball State @ Miami -15

The RedHawks sort of have this reputation for playing in close games. Well, not against bad teams — just ask Akron and Kent State.

Akron @ Ohio -23.5

Ohio is 5–0 at home and is pretty much handling its business comfortably there. If Miami loses, I feel a lot more comfortable about Ohio’s level of give-a-damn about this game.

Eastern Michigan -13.5 @ Kent State

The Eagles have a ton to play for and are a lot better than Kent State. Let’s not overthink this.

Buffalo -14.5 @ Bowling Green

Carl Pelini’s got the young men believing in Northwest Ohio. But again, let’s not overthink this. Buffalo is too good to let the MAC East slip away from them like this.

Central Michigan @ Toledo -18.5

Well yeah.

Bonus Picks

Each week I like to pick three games outside of the MAC I think are worth your time. Here’s my picks this week:

Oregon -16.5 @ Oregon State

Rivalry game be damned, the Beavers are quite bad.

Washington +2.5 @ Washington State

We’ve sorta forgotten about the Huskies this season, but they are still pretty damn good.

South Carolina @ Clemson -26.5

Dabo is not one to *not* run up the score, now is he?
