About Freestyle Van

I’m a dude, in a van, who likes to rhyme. That’s really all you need to know.

But the rest of the story goes something like this: After years of playing the role of objective journalist, I broke free of the constraints of “traditional journalism” to be a freestyle journalist on my own terms.

Now, I’m on a search for the meaning of newsworthiness from the human perspective, and—of course—freestyle cyphers. Along the journey, I want to write, video, photo and do-all-the-things to document and share my experiences.

If you want to know more about my philosophy, please read my Vanifesto (always a work in progress). If you want the TL;DR (too long; didn’t read) version, also known as an “elevator pitch,” please read below.

Have you ever told yourself, “Hey, I should get out of my comfort zone and travel?” Okay, what about, “I should live in a van and explore the country?” And, “Wouldn’t it be cool if I wrote about it the whole time?”

I know, right? It does sound awesome.

That’s basically the gist of this trip. What’s my hook? I have hooks. Freestyle rap will follow everywhere I go. Stay tuned…
