The timeline for the Android launch

It’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for. Excluding diehard iOS users. We’re starting to roll out Android this week!

Our Android community have been incredibly patient and supportive, so thanks to all of you. We couldn’t be more excited (especially the ex-Googlers on the team)!

So what’s the plan?

We’ll kick off with a handful of test users this Friday (the 29th). Thanks to recent developments, we can confidently say this will be the biggest thing to happen on 29th March.

Thanks, everyone!

These intrepid testers will help us confirm everything is running as smoothly as we expect.

After that, we’ll scale up quickly and everyone will have access by the first half of April. No queues, no waiting! ⚡️

Features

All the stocks and ETFs in our universe will be available on Android from day one.

We won’t have the ability to open ISAs from launch. However, if you’ve already opened an ISA on iOS, then you’ll be able to use it on Android.

We expect to have the ability to open an ISA on Android by the end of May. Our free ISA period will last until at least 1st July 2019, so Android users will get to experience free ISAs too.

What’s up next?

Once Android is fully launched and we’ve shipped Android ISAs too, there’s still much to do on our open roadmap. Account switching and card top-ups will come first. Then we’ll be onto even more exciting features and products like:

  • Expanded stock universe
  • Fractional shares
  • Alpha accounts
  • Freetrade’s Investment Platform

We’ll have lots of news celebrating the launch over the next couple of weeks.

So, keep your eyes peeled for updates from our intrepid testers. And most importantly, make some room on your Samsung, Pixel, OnePlus… we’re on our way!

Follow the rollout discussion in the community forum.

We’re on a mission to bring fee-free investing to Europe and beyond. 🔥
