Feature updates: Time frames, scrubber, one day graph fill
It’s almost time to open some presents from under the tree, but first, you may remember ‘Better Graphs’ was at the top of the Freetrade Christmas List 2019.
I can’t believe it’s not… better?
Ever since launching our iOS and Android apps, Freetraders asked for their graphs to have some extra features. In other words, better graphs.
We’re pleased to have shipped three big improvements to your graphs recently and wanted to share a summary of these with you.
1. Interactive graph scrubber
A cool new feature you may have noticed recently is the ability to ‘scrub’ through historical data on graphs in your own portfolio and when you look for new stocks.
Yes, it’s a simple tool. But it’s also an extremely useful one for checking all the different dips and dives that a share has taken over a certain period of time.
2. Performance over time
That leads us neatly onto our next update — adjusting a graph to look at an instrument’s performance over a set period.
Not only can you select your chosen time frame — a day, week, month, year or five years — but we’ve also added the performance for that time frame above the chart.
We default to 1-month view, in line with our mission to build a long-term investing app, but the choice of which time frame to view is yours.
3. One day graph fill
If you open a stock screen on your Freetrade app during trading hours, you’ll notice that the one day graph isn’t completely full.
That’s because we provide updates to it as the day progresses. If you check on the same share in an hour, you’ll see that the chart has grown, reflecting any changes in the share’s price.
