Earlier in the year, we opened up our product roadmap to everyone to see and feed back on the products you’d like us to build. The roadmap reflects a lot of our bigger features, what we’re building and our vision for Freetrade.

The roadmap is in the form of a Kanban board though, so some of the context can get lost in translation. This is why we’ll start providing regular updates on our product focus to give you more context on what we’re working on, why we’re working on it and where we’re at.

We recently shipped Android and have focused on catching up with all the features already live on iOS: ISAs, account switching as well as Google’s answer to Apple Pay, Google Pay. All of these features are being tested right now and we hope to roll them out to everyone in the coming weeks.

We’ve managed to get these core features built in the past month, as well as keeping pace on the features that are coming soon to iOS.

What we’re building

At the beginning of the quarter, we re-organized our engineering and product teams into verticals, one of which is, ‘Discover & Insights’.

Discover and Insights exists to build tools and products to help you make smarter, better-informed investing decisions.

When our apps were first shipped, we knew that there were plenty of important features still to come to our app.

The ‘Discover’ tab was untouched for a while with an ever-growing stock universe. Our graphs and portfolio analytics are key missing pieces. It can be hard to know where to start investing.

‘Discover & Insights’ will be covering a number of the core areas of the app, but as with any product we have to prioritise and schedule. For us, the question is: “How can we add maximum value to our users and do it quickly?”

This sparked a ton of ideas within the team. We went through our community’s input, the feedback we received over various channels and ran an effort vs impact workshop. All this resulted in a priority list of features.

Our main focuses are simplifying discovery, improving users’ understanding of their performance and helping them build a diversified portfolio. If you’ve followed our sneak peeks, you’ll have seen that we’ll be adding timeframes to your portfolio graph to fully understand the movement of your investments.

Another feature that we’re testing with users right now is ‘quick filters’, which allow you to filter our universe according to a few main attributes. Both of these features will add value while we keep building, iterating and shipping improvements.

Our theory is to ship features that will add value to you, as fast as possible, while we continue improving the app. We’ll soon be shipping more products, alongside quick filters, while our team keeps making headway on an even better product. We constantly read through feedback from our community and users, dig into data and make changes to keep improving our products constantly.

These are some of the features we’ll be shipping soon. However, we’ve already started to focus on building out further improvements including, ‘Collections’ to make discovery even easier, a sophisticated ‘rate of return’ to better evaluate your portfolio performance and ‘portfolio insights’ to understand the breakdown of your portfolio.

These features will be the main focus this quarter but our team has a lot of ideas we’ll be evaluating together with input from our wonderful community.

At D&I, we have one mission: to build tools and products to help you make smarter, better-informed investing decisions. Stay tuned — we have much more coming. 🙏

We’re on a mission to bring fee-free investing to Europe and beyond. 🔥
