A quick update on Freetrade’s growth 💪

Since launching in October 2018, we’ve grown to well over 30,000 customers, solely based on word-of-mouth, customer referrals and our amazing community. ❤️

We’ve also beaten the UK’s leading investment platforms to be named ‘Best Share Dealing Platform’ at the British Banking Awards, as well as winning The Times Consumer Investment Awards’ ‘Best New Investment Platform’.

Thanks to everyone recommending Freetrade, winning over their friends and voting for us in awards. You’ve helped us reach a remarkable stage in just a few months of service.

Now it’s time to take Freetrade to millions of new and existing investors across the UK and beyond!

Enter Free Share 🚀

Free Share is our new incentivised referral system. With Free Share, existing Freetrade customers will be able to invite a friend to join Freetrade and you’ll both earn a free share, once they sign up and fund their account.

We want to supercharge our growth with an incredible incentive. And how better to invite newcomers to the world of Freetrade than by giving them a real taste of the product?

It’s just like free rides on Uber or meal credit on Deliveroo. Except in our case, it’s not just a car-ride or a burger, it’s the wonder of investing!

How will it work? ⚒

We’ve just started testing this week.

The simplified flow

These are the rules for the testing phase:

• Crowdfunding investors (including from our current round) will be able to send free share invites
• Only new customers count for free share referrals
• The share you receive is random and more expensive shares are rarer

We’re kicking off the feature with our investors since they’ve always been our most passionate advocates. We also want to reward you for backing us!

Only iOS users can gift a free share right now, so we’ll only give out free shares to iOS users in this first week — Android’s on the way in a couple of weeks. However, anyone sent a free share can start their account and redeem them on Android or iOS.

As we’re testing, some of the experience is work-in-progress. For now, gifters and giftees will get a mystery stock when they fulfil the criteria. We’ll reveal those shares in a few weeks.

How soon will I get it? 😉

As above, during the testing period, we’re only going to roll out the feature to our crowdfunding investors for now. Our priority is testing and refining the experience.
