Hello folks!

Today’s blog is a bit different, as requested by my writing professor.

(Hi Coach.)

Anyways! Today’s blog is about a blogger (blog-ceptionnn) that I have been recently following, because boy it is hard to find people who talk about interculturalism and racism in education. Boy oh boy.

this is really cute.

My blogger comes from the lovely country CANADAAAAA (the nice country above this crazy place we call the US of A)

He is a ‘self proclaimed regular guy from Canada’ named Brad, who works/has worked/has lived abroad and realized a couple of things in his youth and his transition into adulthood.

Apparently, (according to him, a Canadian so he probably isn’t lying) there is a bit of a cultural/collaborative divide between Francophones (french speakers) and Anglophones (english speakers) in the land of maple syrup and bagged milk.(ITS REAL)

He happened to grow up in France and is pretty darn fluent in french, giving him an inside scoop into the minds of Quebec citizens. He saw the disconnect between French/English speaking Canadians.

Also in living in other countries and working abroad he realizes that people get really stuck in identifying themselves from their geographic location. He points out that there are a lot of pointless barriers people put between themselves which greatly limit the communication and collaborations between people of different cultures (specifically discussing French and English speaking Canadians).

He claims that he ‘dabbles’ in languages and has learned Chinese, Spanish, Portuguese, and Arabic for business/fun. So he has a pretty good grasp on different cultures and interculturalism and what not.

As intimidating as he may sound, because he is nonchalantly cooler than most people I know, his voice throughout his blog is very informal and casual. It sounds like you’re talking to a guy who has done a bit more travel than you and is telling you about what he’s learned (without much pompous or pretentious vibes).

Typically he writes about bridging the gap between francophones and anglophones. Mostly targeted to sharing cool things about francophones, and telling anglophones why they should bother to actually learn other languages. Trying to reassure those who are worried that the use of french is decreasing and is promoting that people learn more languages like in his blog ‘With so many languages out there, which one(s) to learn? (#378)’ where he kinda gives his opinion that Canadian people should try to learn french first, just because they have their cool Quebec neighbors.

Another topic he wrote about in a short series was how their Prime Minister made his first appearance on a Quebec talk show, and typically avoids variety shows in general. Its interesting to see the trend of political leaders coming on shows like Jimmy Fallon’s or Stephen Colbert’s.

Again, he is not a super pretentious dude, and his blog looks like any ol’ blog with the ‘recent posts’ list on the left, a couple of announcements and what not. There aren’t many pictures that he posts, I guess because there is a tad of an educational focus, but there are a couple of announcements in french which I could somewhat read thanks to taking 3 years of french throughout high school and college.

One interesting thing is the comments aren’t on display, so I don’t know if people have been leaving comments or internet trolls leaving stupid stuff or what not. IT does seem that people have been contacting him because of his recent post saying ‘I’ve been asked over the winter if I’ll be posting, and I don’t really know’. I understand, there are bills to pay and mouths to feed, the blogging can wait.

Thanks for reading! Have a good day and stay saffeee!!!
