About FREOPP

The Foundation for Research on Equal Opportunity (FREOPP), founded in 2016, is a non-profit, non-partisan think tank focused on expanding economic opportunity to those who least have it, using the tools of individual liberty, free enterprise, and technological innovation. All research conducted by FREOPP considers the impact of public policies and proposed reforms on those with incomes or wealth below the U.S. median.

FREOPP is headquartered in Austin, Texas, and also has offices in Washington, D.C. For more information, please visit FREOPP.org.

About the position

FREOPP seeks a Health Care Research Fellow based in Washington, D.C. with strong analytical abilities, excellent communication skills, and a rigorous work ethic to expand our nationally recognized program in health care reform, entitled Medicare Advantage for All. The goal of FREOPP’s health care work is to build a health care system that is affordable for all Americans living today, and also one that is fiscally sustainable for the generations to come.

The Health Care Research Fellow will report to FREOPP’s co-founder and president, Avik Roy, one of America’s leading voices on health care reform. National Review has called him one of the nation’s “sharpest policy minds,” and Hugh Hewitt has described him as “the most influential conservative analyst on health care.”

FREOPP has proposed market-based reforms to achieve universal coverage through private insurance, along with reforms that would improve public programs, reduce prescription drug prices, increase hospital competition, and bring innovation to digital health care. Three bills have been introduced in Congress based on FREOPP’s work in health reform, with more to come.

The ideal candidate has the talent and experience needed to advance FREOPP’s mission and our health care program, by (1) assisting Avik Roy in producing FREOPP health care research, articles, and op-eds; (2) deepening and expanding our relationships with policymakers of both parties and other health care influencers; (3) communicating our work to the public.

The position may include occasional travel.
