FAMILY TIES

A sluggish poem appraising family

A group of people related by blood;

who have vowed to protect the brood

A group of people related by marriage;

Its elasticity determined to a great extent by our carriage

Brought together through consanguinity;

bonded by the ties of affinity

We’re bounded by nature to disagree;

Indeed we disagree to agree

our views sometimes differ

but we would never

be pulled apart by our differences

nor the silences

of our aching hearts

begging to be poured out

we might hold grudges for an hour or more

that just leaves my heart longing the more

we share the good and bad times together

in our memories we keep each other forever

we cannot be separated by fate

and every single day shall be a date

trapped in memoirs

serving as reservoirs

of every second, minute, hour, day, month and year spent

without a dent
