Fresh Funds — Edition #5 (2/11/19)

Our team spent the back half of this week traveling interstate to meet with investors and companies. We held meet & greets in Sydney and Brisbane, which is a good opportunity to not only put a face to name but for investors to share a beer and a chat with likeminded people. We hope to be doing these events and one-on-one catchups more regularly, please reach out if you’re interested (deals@freshequities.com).

Looking at the composition of the ASX, mining/metals dominate the number of listings. This sector is also very capital dependant so together it makes sense that these companies serve as a good barometer for capital market trends. We observed in August/September that as the price of gold peaked, so too did the number of Gold companies going to the market for Fresh Funds (excuse the pun). These sorts of trends are quite simple to observe but are generally quite interesting to note. For November, we will be tracking if the recent interest in Nickel will translate to an increase in the number of producers/explorers looking to raise funds.

To close off October was another big week for the market, with four 8-figure raises from GSS, ADT, PBG & STX. And interestingly as you can see below, not as metals/mining dominated as usual…

Here are some of the critical numbers from this week:

  • $181m raised from 13 placements (as announced to the ASX).
  • Clients of Fresh were offered access to 12 of the 13 placements (92%).
