4 Reasons why having a job in college is totally worthwhile
Not everyone chooses to take on a job while in college. And that’s totally okay. But for those who do, here are four reasons why it’s more than worthwhile.
1. It mixes up your schedule:
College is about so much more than just class. Class, class and more class is no fun. OH girls just wanna have fun! Amiright? Guys too. But jobs can be fun if you find the right one. Hey, dat rhymes. You gotta shake things up with your schedule a bit and adding a job to your trail mix will surely be a good move.
2. It teaches you tangible skills:
Tangible skills sound boring and lame, but think about how useful it’ll be when you know how to write a kick ass email, manage your precious time, network with strangers and so much more because you hit up the job market now. If you’re picky about where you go, your college job can teach you real life adulting skills (instead of just making coffee and dragging kids to after school programs). Your college job can prep you for the real world post grad lifestyle that will sneak up on you. You’re welcome future self.
3. It is a resume builder:
When you’re having fun picking out the perfect font for your new resume, that college job is gonna look super fly as well. It will be impressive to future employers that you got started early in the game.
4. It is great to have some extra cash in your pocket:
Dig those morning lattes? Mom cutting you off? Have no fear, your college job is here! Start earning your own income and saving now. You’ll be in luck when it’s time to furnish that post grad apartment with that big comfy couch you’ve had your eye on. College is expensive. Post grad is expensive. Life, my friend, is expensive. It’s gonna be super nice to have some extra cash in your pocket and getting a job is really going to help you out.
