A little variation in your sauce, can turn the accompanying meal into a gourmet delicacy. Take fruits for example; add them to desserts, meals, drinks or salads and your food gets a whole new texture and flavour. These nature babies have the inherent potential to turn a regular meal into extra-ordinary. And when you have the sweet and juicy apples in question, you have given your meals and sauces the Midas touch.

Today, we are raving about the latest sensation in the culinary world called Apple Barbeque Sauce. It is sweet, spicy, smoky and fruity — heavenly in short. Add it to meat (pork, chicken or mutton) or slather it on fresh veggies and grill, this versatile sauce goes well with almost anything it is paired with. Here’s how you can make your own Apple Barbeque sauce at home.

What you’ll need?

• 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
• 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
• 1 apple, peeled and coarsely shredded
• 3 tablespoons bourbon
• 2 cups barbecue sauce

Method:
In a medium saucepan, melt the butter. Add onions and cook over moderate heat, stirring occasionally, until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the apple and cook until the moisture has evaporated, about 3 minutes. Add the bourbon and cook until nearly evaporated, about 3 minutes. Stir in the sauce and bring to a boil. Simmer over low heat for 5 minutes. Use or refrigerate for up to 1 month.
