You heard us! We are biding Monday blues away early and giving Salad the best makeover there possibly is. Our Nutritionist Vijayalakshmi Iyengar deconstructs the two salads featured on our menu today. We suggest you waste no more time, read on to find out how a no-cook salad packs so many benefits!

BALSAMIC GRILLED COTTAGE CHEESE SALAD — Well simple — it is a plate full of goodness! Rich, tasty, satisfying and surprisingly anti-weight gain. It does not just prevent obesity but the high polyphenol content in them also prevents many of the life style health problems. It is a lovely wholesome blend of cottage cheese which is creamy but otherwise quite bland with the pungent Balsamic vinegar, flavorful olive oil in the dressing. A Beautiful balance indeed. Cottage cheese is high in protein and low in carbs.

The Balsamic vinegar marinade contains rich polyphenols (antioxidants) which help us fight free radicals and provides protection from heart disease, Cancers & Diabetes. The grapes that are used to make balsamic vinegar also contain antioxidants that improve the body immune system by fighting against cell damage, and make the blood platelets more flexible (this is all the more important as one grows older). The vinegar also aids digestion as it helps break up the protein for better utilization.

To top it we have the olive oil Tapenade which again has a whole repository of health benefits. Most importantly it’s a vegetarian’s answer for omega 3 fatty acids (Heart protective). It also aids in weight loss.

PERSIAN SALAD WITH ZA’ATAR GRILLED CHICKEN — A truly lip smacking but healthy salad as we marinate lean chicken (read low fat high protein) in our hand crafted Za` atar spice and grill it to perfection. Za’atar is a musical blend of sumac berries, cumin, thyme, oregano marjoram, toasted sesame and salt packed anti oxidants or poly phenols. Each of these herbs; thyme, oregano, Marjoram give a warm and lovely taste and to it is added the tartness and lemony taste of the sumac berries and richness of toasted sesame seeds.
