Traditional Sweets Synonymous with Rakhi
Raksha Bandhan translated as the bond of protection between a brother and sister is an age-old tradition celebrated as a festival each year in many parts of India. It is a beautiful way of etching the bittersweet bond between a brother and sister by tying a Rakhi. There are many legends narrating its origin. Some owe it to Hindu gods and goddesses, others to Alexander the Great. Whichever is true we don’t know, all we know is that it is a reason enough for us to gorge on delicious, sugar-dripping home-made sweets. Here’s a roundup of our favourite Rakhi dessert spread.
