Narrator: Good evening and welcome back to Friday Night Crimes. Maine is an often forgotten part of the United States due to its lack of scandal. Most people know that Stephen King lives there, but that’s about it. There haven’t been that many crimes out of the Pine Tree State (see, it even has an innocuous nickname!) but the ones that have happened are quite gruesome.

The Timeline: 2001–2006

Chronological Events of the Case:

April 2001: Stephen Marshall, originally from Fort Worth, Texas, is charged with aggravated assault after bringing an AR-15 rifle on his lawn where two children were fighting. Marshall was 15.

Throughout his formative years, Marshall had moved around quite a bit, living in 4 states and one Canadian province in two decades, it’s quite clear that he never felt grounded.

April 16, 2006: After searching Maine’s sex offender registry, Marshall drove to the Pine Tree State under the guise of visiting his father, who now lived in Houlton. In reality, the disturbed young man was on a mission to murder.
