Regardless the formation, connections are vital.
It is not hard to take a stroll down memory lane; the approach to life, lies in the power of methods, where agents of change are catalyst of reinforcement and mind renovation.
I could recall, how effective guidance and counseling played pivotal role to sharpen students to the point of mental balance and career development. The sole existence of this setup was to rejuvenate mindset. Basically a healthy mindset is one that is mentally balanced.
The pillars of burden, rested on an establishment named guidance and counseling. “The head in charge, could be unmatched with pretense when it came to counseling — as he was the real deal”. Whoever was in charge of the counseling unit in schools, mastered the Art of hope, offering visions of a promised land. How often memories sneaked out and almost neglected, —tell more about our non-commitment to sensitive issues, — till it spreads like a wild fire burning down the most important things.
School counseling sections have been relegated to a spreadsheet of scores; a poor performance with a negative impact on mental health of students.
Counseling greases the wheels of change; admitting its very importance, shapes not only the mindset of students, but also enforces the will of Hope — Hope in itself is not a vacuum, it’s not an empty attempt but a strategic enforcement natured into reality by checks and balances.
There is a need to bring back the actions of the counseling unit properly into academic environments. A displacement of such oftentimes, alters the rate of performance of actors involved — which in this case are students. Recently, the psychological imbalances found in students, shows the decline of the counseling unit as a factor. The impact of it is obvious;, instead of being philosophical kings and Queens, students get to the deep end of workloads which emits depression, stress, narcissistic behavior and. non interest in tackling challenges.
Just like the law of motion where any reaction gets an opposite reaction — the propensity to slide into change (whether positive or negative) lies in institutions. Hence, counseling section is one not to be relegated.
Finally, I believe, when connections are plugged into power, hope comes alive. Likewise, when counseling gets proper recognition, then there will be hope for the hopeless.
Counseling is an Art of hope.
