Friendship hand-made products for sale in KPMG’s Atrium on the 17th May during lunchtime

On May 17th, Friendship was kindly invited by KPMG to celebrate Diversity Day 2018 at KPMG’s Office and was given the opportunity to sell handcrafted items such as scarves, table mats, table runners, napkins, aprons, cotton bags and saris — which also make really nice tablecloth or decoration fabric. Thanks to the enthusiasm and interest of KPMG staff, the total sales amounted to 639€ within about 2 hours, over lunch time.

As a reminder, all Friendship’s fabrics are produced in Friendship Weaving Centres using a traditional hand-operated loom. These Weaving Centres are located in the Chars, alluvial islands of the Brahmaputra River, in Northern Bangladesh. In those Vocational Training Centres, Friendship trains women to become skilled weavers and produce cotton fabrics. This is a chance for these women to avoid falling prey to early marriage and to earn their own income, helping them build a better future for themselves and their families.

KPMG and the KPMG Luxembourg Foundation have been one of Friendship’s first and steadiest sponsors in Luxembourg and we would like to take this opportunity to thank them — and all the staff taking part in the payroll giving plan — for their continuous support.

More scarves and fabrics labelled “Colours from the Chars” are still available at Friendship Luxembourg’s office (3, Côte d’Eich, 1450 Luxembourg). Should you wish to make a gift or pamper yourself, don’t hesitate to contact us at info-lux@friendship.ngo or +352 27 77 42 80.
