We are currently implementing version 1.2 of Friend and have it online on our go tryout server. As part of that upgrade and together with a couple of other useful applications the Friend Platform is getting its own office suite.

As part of 1.2 we are getting a fresh new design and are including many tweaks and fixes. We are including some great new apps too! The main ones we are going to cover here are three applications that allow users to open and edit Word, Excel and Powerpoint documents directly in Friend.

The version 1.2 Workspace with one of our new office apps

To achieve this, we use, what is in our opinion, the best web based office suite there is — OnlyOffice .

By making these apps available to all our demo users we expect the Workspace to become much more useful. Along with this, a plethora of other changes were implemented to streamline and enhance the user experience. We really feel Friend is edging closer to being able to replace our traditional OS’s.

Having a true office suite in Friend means users can create, edit and exchange documents in the most commonly used formats, without the need to buy software for every device they own. Users can even edit documents on their TV!

Friend native suite of office applications — coming to our demo

We invite all our users to thoroughly test and explore the apps and provide feedback about both bugs, missing features or other improvement suggestions.

Stay tuned for more updates on all the other changes we’ve made in version 1.2 — feel’s like a whole new Friend.
