Pop tarts used to be one of my go-to breakfasts. Since starting keto, they are one of the things that had to go, due to their high sugar and carb content.

I had been wanting to try Flings high-protein low- carb toaster pastries. I had to order them online at netrition.com. Let’s dive into the taste and texture of Flings, and whether they are worth buying.

Ingredients And Nutrition

With just five net carbs per pastry, you could easily fit these into your macros. While there are some unhealthy ingredients, you shouldn’t expect any packaged keto breakfast product to be all that healthy.

Taste And Texture

When I opened up one of these pastries, the weird, yellowish color of the pastry kind of put me off. There was a thin rectangle of vanilla frosting in the middle. The pastry seemed kind of floppy. In fact, it didn’t seem like pastry at all.

While the box instructions say to either heat these up in a toaster oven or microwave, I did put one of these in my toaster. I only toasted it for about ten seconds. I think if I had done it longer, it would have fallen apart. Disaster averted.

It did smell like a strawberry poptart. But it sure didn’t taste like one. The pastry had a rubbery consistency. The filling was thin; and super sweet and sticky. There was a slight vanilla taste from the frosting.

I did not enjoy it. It was okay, but nothing like what I expected. I was left with sticky hands and a sticky chin.

Should You Buy These?

If you’re looking for a poptart fix, you’ll be disappointed. Are they worth buying? At $11.33 for one box of four, no, they are not.

I would not recommend buying these.
