2015 was an exciting year here at Depict. We made leaps and bounds in championing digital art and continuing our mission to enable anyone, anywhere to discover and enjoy art that inspires them. Over the past year we launched Frame, our 4K ultra HD canvas for digital art, released brand new Depict-exclusive artworks from digital artists across the world, and engaged new audiences by expanding the conversation on digital art with panel discussions and exhibitions at arts and innovation-focused events in Austin, Los Angeles, and New York.

We want to extend a special thank you to our artists, partners, customers, and supporters for making 2015 a truly amazing year!

Check out our highlights from 2015 below, and stay tuned for an even bigger and brighter 2016.

Depict Frame

In this past year, we’ve transformed Frame from a design to a reality. We opened up pre-sales and launched our iOS app with hundreds of artworks for Frame owners to discover, collect, and enjoy. Learn more about the Depict Frame, our stunning 50” museum quality, Wi-Fi-enabled, ultra high definition, digital canvas here.

Artwork Releases

Commissioned artworks for Depict Frame. Clockwise: Chris Doyle, Eric Cahan, Universal Everything, and Nicole Cohen.

This summer, Depict announced the premiere of Frame Series, presenting exclusive behind-the-scenes studio visits with our commissioned artists for Depict Frame. We invited four world-renowned artists, Chris Doyle, Eric Cahan, Nicole Cohen, and Universal Everything, to create new digital artworks exclusive to the Depict Frame.

Along with Frame Series, our community of emerging and established digital artists continued to grow throughout the year. We highlighted many of these artists and artworks in our monthly subscriptions, on our Medium publication Moving Art, and showcased their artwork at arts and innovation-focused events across the country. Check out our Explore Art page to discover more digital artworks from artists on Depict.

Events

Core Club Residency Launch

This fall, Depict kicked-off a year long residency at CORE: club by hosting a conversation addressing the past, present, and future of digital art. Bringing together leading artists, museum curators, international gallerists and avid collectors, the panel touched on how to create, support, market, and collect digital and media art. Featured panelists included Christiane Paul, Murat Orozobekov, Nicole Cohen, Robert D. Bielecki, and Amanda Schneider.

P.S. ARTS Charity Event

This summer, Depict hosted a charity event in Los Angeles with P.S. ARTS, a nonprofit dedicated to improving the lives of children by providing arts education to underserved public schools and communities. We invited creative leaders from the art, education, and design world together for an evening of art.

Every year, SXSW Interactive brings together technology, design, art and innovation giants, and we joined this spring at the highly anticipated Raptor House. We were excited to celebrate the thought leaders and present the Depict Frame, which enriched the panel discussions and live music events at Raptor House, curated by Roc Nation and Raptor Group.
