Who has my ears this weekend…

I used to hate podcasts. Radiology, 3D printing, AR/VR are all perfect for us visual animals.

Why would you listen to a conversation when you can just watch it on Youtube? (By the way, I still think Clubhouse will fail.)

But in a pandemic, there are suddenly many lonely walks and house chores. During these solo activities, why not explore and learn something new? That’s when I discovered the true values of podcasts. It’s not just new facts or thoughts, but also new personalities and voices from different generations.

I just thought today I’m going to share my screen and show you who has my ear today and a few sentences on the “Why” for each:

1. Wall Street Journal — My all-time favorite journal that I read daily, (mostly) political neutral and much less sensational than the right or left news media.

2. Motley Fool Industry Focus — I like all of Motley Fools’ podcasts, but this one digs deeper on industries that I often wrongfully thought irrelevant to me. It also examines public companies that often have private counterparts in the startup world. For example, the podcast on sleep apnea was quite insightful.

3. This Week in Startups — I just started on this. The first book on investment was Jason Calacanis’s “Angel: How to Invest in Technology Startups” years ago. Excellent writing as usual. Based on his latest episodes, he might have changed some of his original thoughts. Regardless, Jason is a hands-down marketing genius that I intend to copy.

4. FYI by ARK Invest — Not every episode is a home run, but I like the next-generational tone of this podcast. Young and bright hosts talk to future unicorns that will reinvent our world. Now that I am reluctantly stepping into “middle-age”, I am aware that my perspectives and thoughts could be out of date, and I need a refresher now and then.

5. The Lattice (3DHELAS official podcast) — This is just part of my job and maybe a plug here. I have had hundreds of conversations in the past five years, and I wish people can hear them because they made me say “wow”. This was the conception of the podcast (in 2020). However, there are many improvements to be made and I am not offended if you don’t download (okay, may just a little disappointed). The good news is that, for now, most of these interviews also have counterparts on IGTV, Youtube, or just our website.

Things I am trying out this coming week:
