My final post on “From Empire to Europe”

I did not clearly know what to expect when I had“From Empire to Europe” on my timetable. It was hard getting up so early in the morning as my fellow sufferers already mentioned; staying awake was harder. Because: what else but seemingly endless monoloques on british history washed over us. But — thank goodness — those were always followed by interesting videos, discussion etc.

And writing a blog certainly was something new. Actually I had problems finding good and original subjects of my posts — I guess that was because I set my aspiration too high. Or maybe because I only work effecient when under time pressure — I wrote 3 of my posts in 3 days last week, because this week is the final deadline.. But I think I got lucky, because I had found some inspiration online, that I had lacked before. Yet, I was disappointed by some posts of my classmates, as I got the impression they were only chewing over what we discussed in class. Maybe requirements could be a bit different…

In the end I learned stuff I did not know about beforehand, had the chance to understand some things better and also sometimes link my knowledge from my major ethnology/cultural anthropology with the newly gained information. But there were also times where I was confused. (These were cleared up)

So for those of us, who sometimes had a rough time getting the big picture, for those of us who need a bit of relaxation and (at least I think it is) fun:

here is a video on the British Empire.. or the British Isles.. or Team GB?.. or Ook?… What?
