The unexpected victory of the Brexit campaingne seems to carry strange fruits. As we allready discussed in class it seems to be a leitmotive of this crisis that nobody expected it, nobody made plans and an increasing amout of people are unhappy. Now another trend seems to manifest itself: people in power saying Bye-Bye. Nobody was really suprised that David Cameron left the sinking HMS United Kingdom early. He was the one who set it on its course towards the glazier but fully expected to dodge it in the last minute. Jeremy Corbin was equally against hitting Brexit this hard but in compassion to Cameron seems to be in denial that they are taking on water. Meanwhile nearly his entire shadow cabinet is already in a lifeboat throwing threats and insult at their leader for not doing enough to avoid the exit into the cold waters of a life outside the common market. And then came the big one. Borris Johnson figurehead of the “we gonna hit that lump of ice and we gonna love it”- movement steps back from his chance to become PM. This came as a shock because everybody had thought and hoped that in the end he would have a magical plan to un-fuck the whole situation and take over as captain. And finally Nigel Farage champion of the “this ice cube gonna make us all rich” idea steps back as leader of Ukip. What we can now clearly see that the very people that put the British public into the impossible situation of a yes or no vote and then lied to them are are leaving the people to the mess they created. I would normaly now make the comparsion of rats leaving the sinking ships to end my Titanic analogy. But i feel this comparison falls flat and has to be discarded. Because as we all know: Rats dont normaly drive the ship they are leaving to sink!
