The Truth About Feeling Painful and Uncomfortable Emotions
Discomfort doesn’t mean we are doing something wrong
It is too bad they were “protecting” us from bad feelings, as if they’re dangerous and damaging. On the contrary, they are necessary for every meaningful growth and self-development.
Whatever we decide to learn, overcome, and improve — either our emotional capacity or practical skills — unpleasant feelings are imminent.
Frustration, doubt, fear, and insecurity all accompany change. We cannot avoid them; we can only learn to recognize, endure, and understand them.
Because feeling uncomfortable doesn’t mean we are doing something wrong — it often means we’re doing something new and important.
