Two Italian Words That Will Shift Your Perspective
Tutto passa
Vincenzo De Simone on Unsplash (altered by the writer)
The older I get, the more I give in to the little things, such as the morning sun or the smell of fresh air. I appreciate my tiredness and relish rest without guilt. I savor every meaningful conversation. I enjoy the fact that I can afford what I couldn’t before.
And I’m learning to accept things as they come. To work through them with less friction.
We should be grateful for this miracle called life, which is both beautiful and scary. Despite our wish to always be safe and comfortable, all things must pass, and no amount of money can guarantee eternal health and bliss. Because of that transience, beauty is even more beautiful while it lasts, whereas uncertainty is not so scary.
All things must pass. Or as Italians would say, “Tutto passa”.
