When Life Becomes Painful Again, This Is What You Should Do
Recommended by a therapist
Life, like self-development, is neither a 100-meter race nor a marathon. It looks more like a tango: three steps forward, one step back. One step forward, two steps back…
The big trick of mental health is to remember this analogy when “everything starts to go the old way” (i.e. backward). When you WILLINGLY evoke patience, empathy, and self-care no matter how small and concrete your actions are, this soothes your self-criticism, defeatism, and self-loathing.
Take it slow because we are not machines but sentient and thinking beings. We need time to change and integrate.
