Last weekend, my wife and I explored Kaohsiung in just 24 hours. From an epic Westlife concert to an interesting KTV session, we packed in as much fun as possible. The cherry on top of our adventure was our experience with WeMo, an electric sharing scooter that made getting around the city a breeze. Join us as we take you through our whirlwind 24-hour journey in Kaohsiung!

Taiwan High-Speed Rail (THSR)

We started our day by taking Taiwan’s high-speed rail from Miaoli to Kaohsiung. The Taiwan High-Speed Rail (THSR) is a modern, efficient, and reliable transportation mode connecting major cities in Taiwan. The THSR experience is fast, comfortable, convenient, and safe. It is a great way to travel around Taiwan and experience its beauty and culture.

WeMo

When we arrived in Kaohsiung, we rode an electric sharing scooter called WeMo. We set off on our journey, feeling the wind in our hair and the sun on our faces as we rode through the bustling streets of Kaohsiung. Our journey began at noon when we decided to try WeMo, an eco-friendly and convenient way to explore the city. We could locate and unlock a scooter nearby with just a few clicks on the WeMo app.

After downloading the app, you can see a map on the first screen, showing the location of all the nearby WeMo electric scooters. The map has many circles; some are only half, some are only quarters, and some are full circles, representing the electricity amount per electric scooter. When you click on a specific scooter, you can see the license plate number, battery level, and available distance at the bottom of the screen. So you can know the location and power of each WeMo electric scooter on this map.

Every WeMo electric scooter is parked on the right side of the road. All operations are carried out with mobile phones, which means your phone is the key to this electric scooter.

Another feature is that if you want to ride WeMo, you don’t have to bring your safety helmet. After unlocking the storage case with your phone, you will see two helmets after opening the seat.

Kaohsiung is the second biggest city in Taiwan, located in the southern part of the country. Kaohsiung has a population of approximately 2.7 million people. As a result, it has a complex network of roads and highways that require efficient management to ensure the safety of drivers. Kaohsiung is a rapidly developing city with a growing economy, and the infrastructure needs to match this growth. The city has invested heavily in its transportation infrastructure, including roads, highways, and public transit.

Overall, the high number of traffic lights and broader roads in Kaohsiung are necessary to manage the city’s growing population, economic development, and tourism industry and to ensure the safety of its residents and visitors.

After arriving at the destination, we must find a legal parking space to park the scooter. Afterward, when returning the scooter, you must take a photo of the scooter license plate according to the dotted line.

After returning the scooter successfully, the app will inform you of the journey’s time, distance, and price. For example, one of my rides for this trip was 21 minutes, the riding distance was 5.6 kilometers, and the total cost was $2 USD.

After the experience, WeMo is the most densely distributed sharing electric scooter provider. In my opinion, the primary requirement for sharing scooter companies is convenience. I prefer to find the scooter first and pay little attention to the function of the scooter. Regarding the density of scooters and the convenience of returning them, WeMo is the king of Taiwan’s shared electric scooters.

Westlife concert

The primary purpose of this trip was to attend the Westlife concert. The Westlife concert was an absolute thrill from start to finish. The music was loud, and the atmosphere was electric as we danced, jumped, and sang our hearts out. It was an incredible experience, and we enjoyed every moment of it.

The Westlife concert in Kaohsiung was an unforgettable experience. We were surrounded by fellow fans who were just as passionate about the music, and we sang along to every song at the top of our lungs. I highly recommend checking them out if you have the chance!

KTV

After the exhilarating Westlife concert, my wife and I were still buzzing with energy, and we decided to keep the party going by heading to a nearby KTV. We flipped through the songbook, selecting our favorite tunes and belting out the lyrics at the top of our lungs. As the night went on, we got sillier and more playful, trying to outdo each other with our singing and dance moves. It was the perfect way to cap off an incredible evening, and we left the KTV with big smiles and memories that we’ll cherish forever.

Key Takeaways

In conclusion, Kaohsiung is a vibrant city with various activities to enjoy around the clock. From attending a Westlife concert to singing your heart out at a KTV and riding the WeMo, this southern Taiwanese city has no shortage of adventures.

Whether you are a local or a visitor, Kaohsiung offers a unique and exciting experience that will leave you with lasting memories. So, next time you find yourself with 24 hours to spare, consider embarking on an adventure in Kaohsiung — you won’t be disappointed!
