Feifengshan: A Charming Family Hiking Adventure in Hsinchu, Taiwan
Going on a family adventure is always fun, especially when exploring a place as unique as Feifengshan mountain in Hsinchu, Taiwan. The hiking trails are well-kept, and the scenery is breathtaking, making Feifengshan a perfect destination for families who want to spend time in nature.
When it comes to camping, traveling, and spending time in nature, my family is highly enthusiastic and engaged. Feifengshan is a beautiful mountain in Hsinchu, Taiwan, perfect for families who love hiking. Getting here is accessible by car or public transportation. We started our hike by parking our car on the side of the road near the mountain entrance. The hike is pretty easy, and there are many places to take a break.
This hike was extra special because I got to bring my baby girl and family. My daughter was in a facing-forward baby carrier, sleeping throughout the walk. It was our first time hiking, and it was a memorable experience.
Multi-paths to the highest area
There are several ways to reach the highest area of Feifengshan mountain. The hiking trails vary in difficulty, ranging from natural paths that can be challenging to beginner-friendly routes with stairs. You can choose the best route based on your goals and the trail’s condition on the day of your visit.
The trail is not smooth because of the rocks and tree roots, and part of this path can be challenging, so it would be better to wear hiking-friendly shoes. We can bring food, snacks, and water to the mountain, but it’s important to remember to take our trash back down after eating. We don’t want to leave any litter behind on the mountain.
The mountain’s hiking trails are family-friendly and appropriate for children. My son, Dennis, who doesn’t enjoy hiking and outdoor activities, complained quite a bit during the path. But he managed to stick with it and complete the course of the way at a steady pace, which shows that this mountain is pretty easy to hike.
The path gets much narrower here, and there are bushes on both sides. You need to go through this part of the path to reach the top of the mountain. The scenery looks amazing, and the air feels fresh and clean. I really like the sunshine surrounding this mountain, which can relax my pressure after a busy week. : )
After hiking for 1.5 hours, we arrived at the mountain’s peak, with multiple locations designated for picnics. We took some rest, snapped pictures, drank water, relaxed, socialized with each other, and enjoyed the natural surroundings. This mountain is a popular spot for retirees who like to hike, and we also saw several families visiting the place that day.
Feifengshang Mountain is relatively uncomplicated and achievable, encompassing roughly 6 kilometers and taking about 3–4 hours to complete, making it suitable for individuals of all ages. The path leading to the car parking area is predominantly flat and easy to navigate. On the way back, the descent is gentle, and the stairs are not notably different, resulting in a comfortable walk.
The best part of this hike at Feifengshan was spending time with my baby daughter. I brought a bottle of milk, and while we were hiking, I could feed her and watch her sleep. It was a memorable experience surrounded by such natural beauty and the moment with my family. These moments make me appreciate the outdoors and the joy of family bonding.
