Career Readiness and the Student Experience

Trulaske prepares students to be career-ready upon graduation. Our ever-growing list of enrichment programs start with prospective students and progresses to traditional and non-traditional students to graduate lifelong learners. Below are some highlights of the programs and experiences in which Trulaske students have been able to participate.

Cornell Leadership Program participates in international service, corporate visits and networking

The Cornell Leadership Program (CLP) actively engages students beyond the traditional classroom experience. Several students were able to participate in an international service trip to Costa Rica over the winter break. In February, students toured the Leggett & Platt, Inc. headquarters in Carthage, Missouri and then in March, students traveled to Denver for corporate visits and to network with CLP alumni.

Students Participate in SEC Tax Challenge

Three School of Accountancy students, Katie Brettman, Clayton Voss and Joy Wilbourn, participated in the SEC Tax Challenge. This event was held at the University of Georgia from February 14–16. The team was accompanied by Coach Andy Miller (BS BA ’78) and Vairam Arunachalam, director of the School of Accountancy.

The Center for Sales and Customer Development took home top honors at the Challenger Sales Institute Competition

At the end of February, Wayne Keene, director of Trulaske’s Center for Sales and Customer Development, led a team of six Mizzou students to the Challenger Sales Institute. The competition, which was held Feb. 28 through March 2 in Oklahoma City, offered students an opportunity to practice their selling skills on industry buyers and judges.

The Trulaske team competed against nine other universities in a series of events, including a role play challenge, an ethics team competition, a sales management team competition and a speed selling round. The event centered on Paycom, a company offering payroll and HR software solutions and the competition’s sponsor. Jazmyn Ferguson, an MU senior, took home first place in the role play competition. Mizzou took second place overall.
