Michael O’Doherty lands TIAA award
The TIAA Institute awarded the 23rd Annual TIAA Paul A. Samuelson Award for Outstanding Scholarly Writing on Lifelong Financial Security to finance department associate professor Michael O’Doherty, along with his co-authors from the University of Arizona. The Samuelson Award recognizes outstanding research that the private and public sectors can use to maintain and enhance the financial well-being of Americans.
Inder Khurana receives prestigious PwC INQuires grant
Accountancy professor Inder Khurana received a $10,000 PwC INQuires grant to support his research in international accounting.
Professor Scott Christianson talks artificial intelligence with Paul Pepper
Asking a machine to tell you today’s weather was once something of science fiction, but in an interview on Radio Friends with Paul Pepper on KBIA 91.3 FM, management professor Scott Christianson says the machine learning available in today’s technology means the AI of the future is happening now. Can changing CEOs lead to companies’ performance boost?
Finance professor Kuntara Pukthuanthong, along with researchers from Concordia University, looked at the effects of CEO turnover on companies in a recently published paper that was featured in Fortune. Read more of Pukthuanthong’s research here.
How investing ability changes with age
Finance department chair John Howe, along with Mizzou alumnus Michael Finke (PhD ‘11) and Sandra Huston, was recently cited in Forbes for his research entitled “Old Age and the Decline in Financial Literacy,” The study, which found a mix of overconfidence and reduced abilities, examined the poor credit and investment choices made by older subjects.
