“YES! IT’S FINALLY HERE! And it. Is. BEAUTIFUL!!!” That was my reaction on launch day…and I’ve pretty much been playing every day since.

Full-disclosure; I’m a HUGE fan of of the C.O.D. franchise: specifically the Infinity Ward titles. The first Modern Warfare with the Chernobyl map and the MP5 was so good, I can only describe it as “Girlfriend repulsing.” Along with Halo 2 and GTA: San Andreas; that game took up so much of my time my gf could leave me and I literally wouldn’t notice. This C.O.D. game is right up there. And that scares me because I live with my current gf of 4 years and she’s looking at me funny lately.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare is a prequel to COD 4, but in some ways picks up right where that game left off. The campaign is short, but better than most Tom Clancy books. Cpt. Price is his usual bad-ass self, and you will be taking the role of some of his infamous Task Force 141 members before the force was ever assembled. The narrative of the story fits, and even tho its a prequel to a game that came out over 15 years ago, nothing seems out of place or obsolete.

But you don’t play Call of Duty so much for the campaign; you play it to pone the noobs online. AND THIS SHIT DOES NOT DISAPPOINT! The ranking and progression systems are still stellar and at no point does ranking up ever feel like a grind. The gunplay is superb. The look, feel, sound, and feedback from all the weapons just feels…right. All of the weapons have their strengths and weaknesses, but this year your attachments mean so much more with the new gunsmith feature.

You can gain access to blueprints that give you high-powered guns early in the game, but as you progress, you’re able to access all the guns attachments that greatly change their performance. There’s a way to turn a double barrel shotgun into a sniper thru the gunsmith with the right scope, stock, barrel, and ammunition.

Movement, perks, and killstreaks are still dope and addictive. The ability to call in a nuke with 30 straight kills or complete domination of scoring positions in ground war or domination for 30 sec is another welcome addition. And ground war seems to be Infinity Ward’s answer to Battlefield. Its a massive map with 64 players camping away, driving vehicles, and trying to capture positions. There’s also the addition of gun fight: that pits 2v2 against each other on a small map with random weapons. Not to mention the older game modes are still included, along with a new hardcore mode for those that like to get it on in the dark.

The game has its drawbacks: the campaign is short. There are still bugs in the larger multiplayer experiences. The Co-op doesn’t really know if it wants to be spec ops, zombies, horde mode; so its pretty much all 3. And its extremely difficult to complete, due to the fact that strategy is a MUST to complete the objective and odds are you’re gonna get stuck with LEROOOOOY JENKINS a few times. That mode needs the most work, in my opinion. But its still a fun idea.

And the last game mode to mention, which goes without saying, is Warzone; as it has taken over the video gaming world. The Battle Royale craze is still in full effect with tons of games imitating this admittedly addictive game type, with just about every shooter adding this game type to their games. I can honestly say that Call of Duty: Warzone is the best battle royale game for your buck…mainly because its FREE! The beauty of COD’s battle royale is everything that makes the game unique gets poured back into the Warzone game mode. Weapon builds, perks, blueprints, and killstreaks all carry over into this mode. Communication with your team is key to being the last man or men standing. Not to mention it makes for some of the best content on YouTube today.

THE VERDICT: 98% Chronic on the Bammer Scale. This game is whatever Snoop is smoking. Top shelf shit with some keef sprinkled on it. Buy this game, and come see me. Shotyomama323/831. I AIN’T SCARED OF YOU MFS!!!

BUY. THIS. GAME.
