A Striking Contrast
On an election like no other
America is at a crossroads. This isn’t exaggeration. This isn’t hyperbole. It’s a simple statement of fact. The election taking place next month has so much on the ballot. The climate is on the ballot. Healthcare is on the ballot. Truth is on the ballot. Democracy is on the ballot.
The sitting president is unfit for office. He has demonstrated with fervent consistency that he is incapable of even remotely truthful communications. His social media streams of consciousness are a window into a self-destructive psyche. He openly praises dictators and refuses to disavow white supremacists. He has alienated our country from our allies and openly encouraged foreign interference in our elections. He has spent the better part of these last four years dismantling those institutions that have been a source of strength for this country, given another four years of his kind of leadership I suspect this country might be unrecognizable.
He has failed to protect our citizens from the pandemic. Our country’s CDC is one of the top infectious disease resources in the world — our president muzzled their communications and instead subjected us to press conferences in which he would improvise unplanned rambles, unprepared beyond belief.
Just when you thought that things couldn’t possibly get any worse, he has now demonstrated literal abandonment of his sworn oath to protect and defend the Constitution, as evidenced by a refusal to state that he will accept the results of this election. Read that again. Our sitting president has when asked on multiple occasions refused to state that he will accept the results of a democratic election.
America’s single best hope for our future is for as many people to vote as possible. Tell your friends to vote. Tell your neighbors to vote. Tell your family to vote. Vote like the future of your country depends on it.
When Joe Biden tells us that he won’t raise taxes on those making less than $400K, I believe him. When Joe Biden tells us that he will preserve access to health insurance for those with pre-existing conditions, I believe him. When Joe Biden tells us that he has a plan for the pandemic, I believe him. When Joe Biden tells us just about anything I believe him, because he has earned my trust.
I wish I could say the same for his opponent.
