The theory of everything has long been incomplete.

Macro scale relativity and nano scale quantum dynamics have a chasm between them.

The nature of quantum gravity is the question.

We who seek complete knowledge suggest a theory of strings.

One

Alice in Chains — Don’t Follow

We who live in 4 dimensions look for many more.

The bug crawling around a cylinder exterior may see two dimensions where others see only one.

Where we see 4 dimensions a string finds 10 or even 11.

Their vibrations and resonance the source of our substance.

Two

Grateful Dead — Wharf Rat (7/7/89)

We tell a story of strings open or closed,

world sheets of 2D Riemannian complex manifolds

giving us unification and quantizing Einstein’s relativity

embedding in Dp-brane’s world volume Fredholm’s measure.

Three

Paul Simon — Homeless

We who seek truth offer a theory we can’t prove

Of subatomic interactions requiring energy scales magnitudes beyond CERN.

A competition between five sets of incomplete formulas and approximations

A chorus of flavors in how to model a string.

M

Paul Simon — The Boy in the Bubble
via The Elegant Universe by Brian Greene

We find echoes between our five sets of theory

Couplings and counter-symmetries emerge

Witten’s M, a theory of membranes or magic, providing the missing context

The connection tying them together like a song.

Four

Grinderman — Palaces of Montezuma

We give to you pieces that can be tested.

AdS/CFT, applied to real-world phenomena.

A supersymmetry s-particle may still be found.

A supersymmetry gravitino that couples to the Higgs field.

Five

The Head and the Heart — Lost in My Mind

Gödel said any complete theory must also be incomplete.

Any formal system that is interesting enough to formulate its own consistency,

can prove its own consistency only if it is itself inconsistent.

A mind can not always know for certain if what is speculated is true.
